Preliminary (9/25 eps)
SAO's plot can be summarized as the journey of the main character towards finishing a game in which the players are trapped into. The story may sound simple (and the animation is not the best out there), but the way it's presented is what keeps me tuned in every week.

Being a previous gamer, I personally like and enjoy how various MMORPG scenarios were presented and are put into someone's perspective. And along with those, I get to see characters grow and develop into better players and people. The only thing that's worrying me right now is the tendency of the story to stray away ...

Preliminary (8/12 eps)
One month is a long wait per episode. But with one-hour episodes, this series is worth the wait.

Visually, the animation style is very captivating. The characters were drawn with simplicity but in bright colors. Upon saying that, it's kind of disappointing how they don't use this in drawing battle scenes. (especially the contacts between the Kyotoryuu techniques and the swords)

It's your typical quest story. What's different is its presentation and how it tends to keep its viewers guessing on what will happen next, and what happened during the battle. It's actually very clever, although a visual presentation would've been stunning.

On characters, I am ...

Preliminary (3/12 eps)
People can look at this anime anyway they want, but it'll forever be (for me) a sweet story of how an older brother came to love his sister as any older brother should. So far, every episode managed to unfold into how the two get closer to each other as the older brother helps his sister with common teen problems.

The story is different from other brother-sister relationship anime. Told from the brother's point of view, it's light and has no weird physical and romantic interaction between the two. I like how he started from not even talking to his sister to how he realizes ...

This is actually a good series despite the obviously short and few episodes. It actually developed this simple story about how two people came to like each other and even had this tiny issues aside. I must say, I'm kinda reminded of Just my Luck by Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine as the idea of the story is quite similar.

The short episodes worked for me because it is not hassle to watch. It only takes about 15 minutes of your time. Add to that the simplicity of the story, making it easy to watch in between work.

On the other hand, the story ...

Loveless (Anime) add
The first episode definitely made me a fan. The characters (which come in pairs) were very effective in drawing attention and curiosity with how they express their feelings towards each other. How far will they go? What'll happen next? Is someone actually gonna lose their ears? What really happened to Seimei?

However, it was kinda disappointing how the series ended, without any action and without any answers, leaving the viewers with nothing at the last episode. The mystery and suspense of the story is very catchy and will make you want to know what'll happen next. But the end did not deliver much and did not ...

Here's an anime to simply enjoy. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei separates itself from other comedy series, with its lack of solid plot, interesting characters and new stories to tell every episode.

Don't get it wrong, its lack of plot is very refreshing, different from the usual. For once, there are no cliffhangers, no twists, no complex character development. The only thing to forward is the next episode. You may know what's coming up next, but how the characters will deliver it, or deal with the topic is something to look out for.

For me what made the series interesting is the characters, each with their unique personalities. ...

Paradise Kiss (Anime) add
Paradise Kiss is a short romantic story about two people with clashing personalities. This is not your typical love story as the two barely even made it together. Both have different personalities, priorities and interests. But both still clung to each other and try to make things work, at least up to the end of the series.

I love the story (probably the best romantic story for me). Yukari is a character any simple girl can relate to. While George, is the image of a guy, any simple girl would simply dream of and stay away from. George and Yukari were definitely struggling throughout the series ...

Probably the funniest series I've seen so far, Detroit Metal City proved to be a surprise hit for me. Not being a fan of heavy metal, I was having second thoughts about watching DMC. I'm glad I gave it a shot.

DMC tells us how Negishi survives having two completely different identities: his original self - a sweet guy who enjoys singing pop and making friends; and his alter-ego KrauserII - the front guy for the death metal band, Detroit Metal City. Wondering how he tries to satisfy the people in both worlds will keep you watching.

Poor Negishi was so confused with how he lives, ...
