Let me start this review by saying that this movie is a damn masterpiece. Everything about it just blew me away. The visual novel fans kept saying that it will be awesome and I was hyped, still got blowed away by it. Now let me go in depth.

The Story - 10/10
Its your typical fate story but Nasu is a brilliant storyteller. Everything is well though out and well executed. We also get to see how the Holy Grail was first created. It's beautiful.

Art/Sound/Animation - 10/10
I love the fate art style, that's all I can say about the art but I have a lot to say about the god tier soundtrack by Yuki Kaijura. Yuki Kaijura is probably my favorite music composer of all time. Her music sends chills down my spine. The atmosphere she is able to build is mind blowing. Her soundtracks are powerful, mysterious, impactful and unforgettable. My favorite work of her is in Kara No Kyoukai but what she did in Heaven's Feel Spring Song and Heaven's Feel in general is brilliant as well. About the animation, I watched this movie as a CAMRIP but I still could enjoy the stunning animation of Ufotable. Watching HF 3 as a cam version surprisingly didn't decrease my enjoyment or maybe that's just how I feel at the moment.
Characters - 10/10
Now this is the best part of the whole movie. The characterization is brilliant. Shirou is not shown as just a pathetic two goody shoes, you can understand how thought out and extremely well done his character is. In UBW he wants to save everyone no matter what but in HF he will do everything just to save the girl he loves, no matte what. He has some very emotional and badass moments. His parallel with Kirei Kotomine is brilliant but I will talk about that more later. I also loved Sakura in this movie. She can come off as annoying in UBW and the first two movies of HF because even though I liked her that's what I lowkey thought at first. Spring Song completely changed my opinion. Sakura is such a well written character and she becomes very likeable. Her relationship with Rin and Shirou is beautiful and she has some of the most impactful moments in the whole movie. A tragic character that was not meant to live a happy life but the man she loves and loves her back will change that. Ilya is another character that I loved. Her relationship with Shirou is amazing and her last moment where she saved him was so powerful and emotional. I think I cried. Rin had her fantastic moment with Sakura as well. Medusa showed hos badass she is and Saber showed how unfortunate she is. Now let's talk about the antagonists. Zouken and Hassan were given plenty of depth in this movie. It was nice to see young Zouken and the movie lowkey shows us that he cared about the Einzbern(forgot her name). These moments make you sympathize with him a little. Hassan was cool as well even though he got his little depth in the second movie so there isn't anything in particular to say about him. Now its time to talk about the 🐐 Kirei. Oh shit, Kirei is absolutely brilliant in this movie. After having no screen time, being pathetic in UBW and getting sidelined in the first two movies of HF, the badass Kirei we all love is back. He has some of the best lines in all of anime and we also get such a fascinating little backstory/flashback about him considering his wife. Kirei tried to love Claudia but he just couldn't or maybe he was able to love her no matter how small that love was. Kirei is the definition of "built different". He tried to be like most people, he tried to be "good" but he just couldn't. Because he wasn't able to change he decided to embrace the real person he really is. Kirei is a fantastic foil to Shirou because at the end of the day they aren't all that different from each other. In Fate/Zero Kirei thought that Kiritsugu was the only one who was somewhat like him and could understand him but that wasn't the case. Kirei would do everything possible to find happiness and enjoyment. He though that Kiritsugu too would do everything in order to achieve his wish but when he saw Kiritsugu crying in the middle of all the chaos and destruction he understood that he was alone in this world. Shirou is very similar to Kirei, they both lack moments of surprise or fear, they both put themselves beyond their limits without caring for themselves(at the moment at least) and they both would do everything to achieve their wish. But there is also a huge difference between them. If Shirou gets pleasure from seeing other people happy, Kirei gets pleasure when he sees them suffer. At the end, Kirei really was alone in this world but Shirou at least was able to entertain him to the max.
Themes - 10/10
Themes of fatalism are shown through Sakura's misfortunes in life, Kirei's lack of love, entertainment, happiness and his failures in gaining them, Saber's unsuccessful attempts at obtaining the grail and Zouken's unfulfilled wish of immortality. Themes of what love really is are told through Sakura's and Shirou's relationship and Kirei's and Claudia's relationship. Familial love through Rin's and Sakura's relationship. One of the main themes is what good and bad is. There are also light themes of existentialism and nihilism. One of the other main themes is "Are your ideals worth pursuing even though your goal is close to impossible or impossible to be fulfilled". All of Heaven's Feel but this movie especially is extremely thematically rich.
Flaws
The final fight was great but a little disappointing considering it was hyped up to me as "the best fight ever"
Enjoyment - 10/10
Even though I watched Heaven's Feel 3 in a cam version(which was fairly good by the way) I still enjoyed it the amount that can't be put into words. I absolutely loved this movie, it made me laugh (when Kirei threw Shirou up at the window lol), it made me cry from sadness and fascination and it provided me with an unforgettable story about love and sorrow with one of the best climaxes ever.

Story - 10/10
This manga is unique af. The plot itself is a spoiler so I will just say that it talks about 4 friends that make a terrible mistake that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Art - 8.2/10 The art is good. Nothing spectacular but it fits the story very well and the facial expression are amazing. The paneling is very creative as well. Characters - 9.5/10 Bokutachi Ga Yarimashita has fantastic characters. They don't have the most fascinating ideologies and they are not based on only one character trait. They are simply immature humans living life. Tobio is the main character and he enjoys ... |
