If school life, plotless, "cute girls doing cute things" moeblob isn't your thing, you're in luck: this isn't any of that. Despite the schoolgirls being in school doing school-like things (like being on their absurdly powerful student council), this is not a 4-panel gag comic brought to life in a series of episodic moments. Rather, it's a coherent, consistent, and compelling story, told in thirteen chapters, each delivering the perfect mix of both comedy, and a touching story of the progression of an unlikely friendship between two very different girls, and the strange cast of characters that surround them.
And ultimately it is the characters
...
that I always remember and go back to look at again and again, as they are so very interesting, charming, funny, and beautiful, in their own very flawed and hilarious ways. While it has a consistent, forward-moving plot, it is really the characters that move the story along, and in the process, make themselves relatable and memorable.
Love Lab really is unlike any other anime I've seen; certainly unlike any other school life romance or comedy. That unique quality it has, that I can't quite place, is what keeps drawing me in for multiple viewings since it first aired; this is the only anime title I've watched in its entirety multiple times, and the only one I feel unashamed to give a full "Masterpiece" rating to without qualification or reservation.
