When she goes to meet Marnie for the first ... time, the boat she appears in contains a candle that quickly goes out when Anna turns around and notices the boat. There is a scene at the festival where Anna lights a candle and places it on a table with other candles placed by other visitors. Combined with the memories of the stories her grandmother told her about her childhood and her "unknown" fascination with the mansion (which we actually discover she had seen as a child, but just didn't remember), it ended up making her relive those memories. Could it have been just a detail and not made all that much sense? Yes, but I found it interesting and wanted to share it.
