[FAIR REVIEW FROM A LIGHT NOVEL READER]
JUST GIVING MY OPINION/SCORE ON WHAT HAS BEEN ANIMATED UNTIL NOW.
Just to be clear: Mushoku Tensei has the potential to become a 10/10 with the seasons to come, but not right now...
Why 8 out of 10 but not lower?
R/ Solely because the high production values of Mushoku Tensei, which are astounding; It's art, animation and sound quality stand at the very peak of industry quality nowadays. We gotta be fair, we need to praise quality wherever is displayed, equally.
Is it the Light Novel story really that good?
R/ What you have seen so far until ep 8 is just

the beginning of a long long history of character development.
The childhood arc (which is the only one animated until now) is just a 6/10. Up to this point; the detailed world building narrative is good, but the overall plot feels just kind of odd, kinky or wierd.
The story will improve a lot more right after the first adulthood arc.

Will the MC's creepiness still remain?
Not entirely, the MC will be able to become really attached and loyal to those who he love. He's pervy character will remain though, but he will improve a lot from the bastard he was in childhood.
Just a hint from a LN reader: My favorite Character is not even MC, but Paul, his father, which character development will kick in later on, leading Paul to become on one of the best seinen/fantasy character I have ever seen so far.
Can I recommend this show?
I would rather say; no...
It's up to you... You like Isekai and Seinen? Then go for it, you may feel uncomfortable for MC's creepiness on his childhood but sure it's gonna improve later on.
