I'm so glad Instagram Reels existed. Without Reels, I would've never discovered the existence of Zom 100.
What hooked me in was the carefree-ness of the protagonist, Akira, despite living in an apocalypse. However, it's not Akira that kept me hooked, it was the social commentary embedded into this unconventional setting.
In a zombie apocalypse, people are worried about one thing: Survival. How do you manage your resources? How can you stay safe? How do you know who to trust?
The theme of survival is thrown out the window. Instead, it presents a new theme: Freedom. After a zombie invasion debilitates the functionality of a government, there are
...
no more laws, authorities, or orders to follow from anybody anymore. Essentially, it's everybody for themselves.
So what should we do with this freedom?
That is the question Zom 100 provides an answer to.
Zom 100 is not an anime about a carefree protagonist living through a zombie apocalypse in the most unconventional way, it is a social commentary on what the writers of Zom 100 think people would do freedom, and the various scenarios and dilemmas that arise when this freedom is granted.
And that is why I love it.
If you want a short series that provides insight into the different perspectives of various social dilemmas gift wrapped in an uncanny zombie world, give this one a go. You won't be disappointed.

Okay, why is this SINGLE episode of a Mementos Side Quest better than any of the garbage they put out for the actual anime?
The Daybreakers special is not anything too climactic, or even exciting or interesting. It is an episode following a Mementos Request (essentially small-scale palace runs, if you played the game you would know), and basically a single battle showing how it all goes down.
As someone who has played the game, it is (for lack of a better term) a deeper dive into how the PTs gain info on their Mementos target in order to confirm if the request on the Phan-Site is
...
legitimate or not. It was a nice way to give more insight on how the PTs do their business.
But the one thing that stands out in this single episode over the entire series is the animation. Daybreakers has ACTUAL fighting (holy shit! what?). What I love about Daybreakers compared to what P5A has done is the quality of the fights. The fights feature the PTs doing more than "summoning a persona just for that persona to shoot a ball of blue magic" or some shit. The fight features animation; while not on par with top animes, is much more watchable and enjoyable than the fights in P5A. I also enjoyed the way they incorporated in-game mechanics like Baton Pass into the anime battle in such a way that makes the fight more cohesive.
Other than that, even if P5A turned you off from watching any P5-related anime media, Daybreakers is a short, disconnected yet sweet experience that respects the content of the game it is based off of, while at the same time adding on some of the flair that animation without letting itself be confined by the straightforward and somewhat blandness of a JRPG system.
8/10, huge recommend!
P.S please play persona 5 royal, it's an amazing game that i swear goes on sale once every month, it's also available on xbox game pass!

EDIT: My written review scores didn't match what I rated them with the website.
Persona 5 The Animation, just like many other anime adaptations of popular video games, is incredibly mediocre. This anime is what turns from a 100+ Hour long JRPG into a low-effort, low budget 7-8 hours of a cartoon.
As someone who has personally spent 400+ hours on Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal combined and about 100 hours on Persona 5 Strikers, the anime leaves a lot to be desired if you have not played the game.
Let's just call it as it is; There's no way you are compressing a 100+ hour journey
...
into the span of 7-8 hours without having to cut some major story elements out. The Social Links feel like NPC's rather than actual characters with relatable themes, Haru feels as bland as ever, and the downfall and mediocrity of this anime was pretty much inevitable.
Story 5/10: The story is pretty much the same as Persona 5's. Not much to say.
Art 1/10: I don't believe the art does this game justice. ESPECIALLY the boss battles and fight scenes. The fight scenes are absolutely abysmal. Take a look at HeartSwitch! (the SFW fight scenes, not the other thing...) A SINGLE PERSON has made much more action-packed and well-drawn fight scenes than a FULL studio. I swear I could watch those 2-3 minutes of fighting as much as I wanted. There was SO much potential with the fight scenes, but the studio decided to take the easy way out and make the Persona 5 Animation battles nothing more than glorified pokemon battles, where a ball of magic essence is released when for example Carmen uses "Agi". The battle scenes are SUPER short, unengaging, and I'd rather playthrough the entire game one more time than witness such horrible and lazy animation.
Sound 7/10: Well, they use the OST from Persona 5, but at the same time add some fucking BANGERS. Infinity is a VERY good ED, but it's a shame it's not the only ED and isn't played for the entire series. Lyn Inaizumi is a great vocalist, not much else to say. The soundtrack definitely carries this anime and it has some very underrated tracks that are swept under the rug because they are only heard on this shitty anime.
Character 3/10: In terms of character, Persona 5, the game itself, is probably the weakest here. The party members don't really develop over the course of the entire main story after the arc they are directly involved in (see Kamoshida vs. Ryuji/Ann) and as I said before the side Social Links feel like NPC's rather than actual characters that target themes and tropes that I can relate or see the perspective of.
Haru didn't get screentime in P5, she doesn't get it here. Go look at the Valentine's OVA if you wanted some Haru Screentime. (or play P5 Strikers!)
Enjoyment 5/10: It was pretty meh. I wasn't on my toes waiting for the next episode, but my love for Persona made me watch through the whole thing. Thankfully, not all in one sitting.
Overall 4/10: Like every other anime adaptation of a video game out there, the main purpose of this anime was to promote the original game. Did it succeed in doing that? No clue. All I can say is that you would be better off playing the game itself or watching a playthrough on YouTube instead of watching whatever the fuck this is.
(btw, steam/pc ports for P5R come out October 21, 2022! It's also available on gamepass on that day!)

Story: The plot is not AOT level, but at the same time it's not something that you would completely dismiss as intelligible garbage. However, for what the anime is meant to be, it checks all the right boxes.
Art: The animation is great. The very small amount of fight scenes that were animated looked amazing, and I'm excited to see what the studio can do when they have to animate fight scenes of the later chapters.
Sound: ED and OP are amazing, OSTs fit and complement the Cold War theme very well while still not being super dark
Character: All the characters are very relatable. Each character represents
...
lots of themes that everyone can relate to, enough said.
Enjoyment: It's light-hearted yet packed with action, and I couldn't wait for the next episode to come out.
Overall: 9/10. It's obviously not perfect, but it's definitely one of the best seasonal anime we have had in quite a while. It's something that anime fans of many different niches will find to enjoy.

Great Teacher Onizuka has become one of my top anime's of all time. I first discovered it by watching a video about someone's top anime, and they said it was this, I found the full series on Netflix, so I decided to check it out and give it shot, and oh boy, it didn't disappoint.
I'll try not to write spoilers, but I won't guarantee I may spoil little plot points and events within the series to reinforce my opinion.
First review, so constructive criticism is appreciated.
Story: 8
The story was sub-par, at best. It usually involved Onizuka trying to help a certain student with their own personal
...
problems, which is something you would expect from a slice-of-life anime. However, later on the anime, when many of Onizuka's student are part of his "gang", there is an even bigger arc, and that is Aizawa's stubbornness and refusal to accept Onizuka as a close friend, and not a teacher. Now this is when the story becomes what my rating is for this show. I'll talk more about the close friend part later in the review, but this single arc goes on for the entire series, and I believe it continues in the manga. (I haven't gotten to reading the manga yet)
Art: 8
I don't really have much to say about Art, I know when Art & Animation look good, but I don't usually tend to fuss with over the details. I'm not a drawer.
Sound: 9
The OP'S and ED's for this anime are really good. If an OP gets me hyped up, I like it.
Character: 10 (SPOILERS HERE)
Character is the real main focus for this anime. I think I would give a higher rating for Character for this anime simply because it's solely based on the development and the overcoming of each struggle for each main role in the series. Onizuka helps students find a purpose in life more than ways than one, he single-handedly saves Yoshikawa from taking his life 3 SEPARATE TIMES. He helps Tomoko find a new career in acting, and helps Kanzaki realize the thrill and unpredictability of Reality. There's so much more I could tell you. but that's really all I can go through without spoiling the entire series. The series tackles some other topics related to school as well. I could relate because well, I'm currently about to go to high school so most of this is really easy to relate to. Onizuka tries to break that barrier between the Teacher and the Student. In fact, he hates it. Society has always been taught that it's always Teachers versus the Students, and 99% of the time, that's not the case. As one of my teachers used to say, "If a teacher is trying to make you fail or doesn't want to answer your question. In my opinion, he's a pretty sh*tty teacher". At first in the series, Onizuka isn't welcomed by his rebellious students, but later on, many of the students start to love Onizuka, his unique way of teaching defines what this anime is about, it's all about friendship, and sometimes sticking with each other through thick and thin. Many of Onizuka's students see Onizuka not as a teacher or a strict adult, but as a close friend they can open up to in times of need. As with Onizuka, he sees his students not as subordinates, but as rightful equals and friends.
Enjoyment/Overall: 10/9
I don't know what to say here other than that I really enjoyed watching this anime. Though Onizuka has the word "PERVERT" spelled all over him, genuinely he is a nice person who wants nothing but better for the world and the people he cares about. There are lots of life lessons you can take away from this anime while I having a nice crack at it. (I mean, it is still a slice-of-life comedy anime) If you have the time, watch this anime and you can see that it really is all up that it is meant to be, if not more.
