Both series focus on Italian mafia and supernatural abilities and centered around teenage protagonists. Comedy and action are perfectly balanced, though Reborn starts as more like slice of life series just to suddenly bring fantastic battles starting with Varia arc. JoJo has more mature themes and specific humor but still gives similar vibe as Reborn.

It's clear to see that Shaman King was highly inspired by JoJo. Both series share similar concept of "fighting spirits" - supernatural creatures that are connected with their users and must protect them - and very intense battles between them. However, in SK everyone can choose whatever spirit they want, in JoJo each can have only one "stand", and their abilities aren't determined by their users. Complex and intense plot merges with occasional comedy elements (although, JoJo humor is more mature). Japanese protagonists are surrounded by multinational characters and there are lots of interactions of different cultures and the language barrier is completely omitted.
