Mawaru Penguindrum
add

Both have the same director and I get Utena vibes everywhere from Penguindrum. They have a similar style and use of repeated scenes and phrases. Although I don't know yet, Akio seems really similar to Sanetoshi, and the whole library thing seemed really similar to the Black Rose arc. Penguindrum has a Fate Bride and Utena has a Rose Bride.

Samurai Champloo

They're by the same director and one incorporates hip-hop music and culture with samurai, while the other incorporates jazz with cowboys (well, space cowboys). Both are episodic with an overarching plot, and the main characters are somewhat similar.

Shinseiki Evangelion

...then you might like
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
add

Both are very good anime that deal with the deconstruction of a popular genre. While Evangelion first seems like a typical mecha anime and Madoka seems like a typical Mahou Shoujo, they end up being quite different from what the viewer expects. They both take a very depressing turn early on and contain plenty of symbolism. Each deals with young children who are forced to fight to protect the world and how they deal with this responsibility.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai
add

A popular school idol hides her otaku hobbies, which a normal boy finds out. They spend most of the show hiding this secret and doing various otaku activities. Haruka has a romance element that OreImo is lacking, but they're pretty similar shows.

Saishuu Heiki Kanojo
add

Both anime start happily with a boy and a girl in love, but they quickly fall apart after a tragic event happens to the girl. They each have an incredibly depressing feel. While KimiNozo has more of a slice of life feel and Saikano has more of a fantasy feel, they are both mainly romantic stories about how a main couple deals with a tragic and life-changing event. I don't think either of them are that good, but you'd probably like one if you liked the other.

If you like one, there's no way you can't like the other. Seriously. They feel like the exact same show. Check out the other one now if you haven't already seen it.

Hidan no Aria
add

The female leads in both of these shows are almost exactly the same. Both shows have a couple of girls around the main lead, although it's obvious who is going to win. Both anime revolve around the main female and male fighting together. The main male character is quite a bit better in Hidan no Aria than in Shakugan no Shana, in my opinion.

Yumekui Merry

Both anime focus on a fairly normal boy who meets an extraordinary girl who's not from the world. They spend their time fighting monsters from the other world while falling in love with each other. Each of them have a heavy focus on the supernatural aspect. I don't think either of them are that good, but if you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch
add

A genius teenage boy acquires a special power that he uses to try and change the world. This part is incredibly similar, but the rest is fairly different. If you want another show with the same premise, by all means, watch the other one. The actual feel for the shows is quite different, however. Death Note feels much more mature and darker than Code Geass, and Code Geass puts more of an emphasis on fanservice and the harem aspect. I personally think Death Note is a lot better, but it just depends which kind of show is more for you.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.
add

The anime themselves aren't that similar, but if you really liked the theme of one of them, you might want to check out the other. In AnoHana, a group of friends try and figure out a way to bring their dead friend Menma to heaven, while in Angel Beats, a group of friends that are already dead try and figure out how to get into heaven. Other than these similarities, they're pretty different. AnoHana is a lot more mature and serious, while Angel Beats is more light-hearted and comedic, with some serious moments.

Kanon (2006)

Clannad
add

Both are great visual novel adaptations by Key (you should consider checking them out if you liked either of these!) which revolve around a likable and clever protagonist helping out a bunch of girls. Each of them have a good deal of drama, as well as some great comedy. Kanon and Clannad each have supernatural elements, and many of the characters are quite similar, although to go into their similarities would spoil it. They're both very good, but the second season of Clannad sweeps them both away.

Azumanga Daiou The Animation

...then you might like
Nichijou
add

Both of them revolve around the everyday life of several school girls and the weird happenings that they get into. They have similar humor, so I think you'd definitely like one if you liked the other. Nichijou is a little more weird and it has more characters, while Azumanga Daioh spends more time focusing on one group of characters.

Aoi Hana

Hourou Musuko
add

Besides the fact that they have the same manga author, they have an incredibly similar feel. Both Hourou Musuko and Aoi Hana are slow-paced dramas dealing with different characters as they grow up and issues with their sexuality, although they touch on different topics and the characters in Aoi Hana are a little older. Each of them have great, relaxing BGM to go along with their stories. I'd say they're about the same in quality.

A-Channel
add

A-Channel is basically a less interesting version of K-ON without the music and with less interesting characters. Not to mention the annoying insert songs...If you liked A-Channel, you'll love K-ON! If you liked K-ON, you might still enjoy A-Channel for the similar themes.

If you liked
Yosuga no Sora
add
...then you might like
Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi
add

Each anime starts out with a ordinary harem lead moving to the countryside with their sibling, giving both of them a similar feel. A lot of the characters are pretty similar too, so if you like one, you'd probably like the other. Yosuga no Sora has incest and a lot more fanservice than Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi, while Hoshizora doesn't have very much fanservice (although, it should be noted that there's quite a bit with the protagonist's younger brother...). Unlike Hoshizora, Yosuga no Sora operates with an arc system, giving each of the girls a chance with the main character. I'd say Yosuga no Sora is a little better, but they're pretty similar in quality.
