(This review doesn't really contain spoilers, but if you watch youll know what im talking about)
So, I'm not the best reviewer, and given how much time between PP2 and 3, I kind of forgot some of the plot holes that irritated me and were left unanswered about Sibyl. At any rate a lot of this show fell flat in the sense of making the viewer 'eat' more without any questions being 'digested'. Too much more is introduced and the plot pacing is hard latch onto. Mind you i actually really liked both prior seasons almost equally.
The politics of it all was somewhat 'cloudy' (heh) due
...
to the fact that apparently Sibyll had totalitarian control of everything happening regardless according to pp1/2. Now all of the sudden there is a counter system called Bifrost. Could have been cooler if more mayhem was caused and inspectors were getting closer to THAT instead of chasing individuals or each other for most of the series.
The two MC's were likable and a breath of fresh air, however one of them is a 'Mentalist' who is damn near clairvoyant. If this still followed the same worldbuilding as the first two, you would think he would be an unstoppable detective. However he is just a really good tactician who has flashbacks of others via empathy?? or something??? Something. It doesnt take away from the story too, too much but theres too much going on to get hung up on it regardless. But once again the MC's are morally ambiguous which can make things a lot more interesting or a lot more boring.
Season 1 and 2 found time to at least wrap it tf up in 25 episodes, and giving the viewer time to at least be on board by the time of the climax. Of course paying super close attention is important in this series, however its distracting or even difficult to want to when continuity doesnt seem to be of super big importance. And there wasnt even a climax. Old MC cameo's are a little forced as well, since they dont bring anything to the table about the past or even really contribute to what is unfolding currently.
What i DID like however was the fight choreography. Dominators were barely used except for getting Hue reading, which ,,, eh i woulda pointed at who is trying to fist fight me, but the animation and soundtrack was super good. All in all, the show isnt great, and quite honestly left me a little disappointed. I dont think I'll watch this 'ending' movie with high hopes given that its been on the decline for quite a while.

Mid.
Thats the only word to describe it. Its so far from being a disappointment, its worse. After you watch redline you are ITCHING for more of the same. This felt like a rushed idea that had been funded only KINDA. Character sucked, race sucked, stakes undersold, no time to understand wtf is with this tore up ass earth, and everything had a proper noun. 0 time to understand and even less time to care. Nothing charming, not even pulling a lick of wit from Redline. Character design and dialogue too gimmicky to go for entertaining. Very disappointed and very okay with never watching or
...
mentioning Tailenders again.

Jin rou review
I personally will not be shelving Jin-Rou as one of the best films ever, but it is one of those I shelf on my "Dad's favorite movies - do not touch". That being said:
This movie is a very strong 7.5 for me but there are few things that disrupted my overall enjoyment as the audience that i cannot overlook (because i REALLY liked the idea of this movie and wish I could give it a 9). I think the biggest issue I have with Jin-Rou is the Plot quickly holding your hand and leaving breadcrumbs as big as dinner rolls. I do
...
personally like the idea of a darker story paralleled with an age old fable we all learn at childhood. But due to the motifs, current environment and art style, there is no breathing room in symbolism, visual or dialogue, and this can be undermining to your intelligence and patience. Especially if the movie is 'mature', ...it is similar to meeting someone attractive at a bar and they do not appreciate the ebb and flow of conversation.
The art was very.. well.. 'cool'. The design of the special units soldiers represents the governing ideals perfectly. The faces of each character seemed well thought out as well, so distinguishing was not of issue, as some anime tend to revisit as an obvious afterthought. The environments of each scene were solid and too be commended as well. However the clothes and colors somewhat fell flat which knocked it down to again a 7.5/10.
Sound is not really something I pay attention to, I have nice speakers, but it's only something I recognize if the audio is REALLY bad, relative to production release. Not all viewers are blessed with good audio equipment, but it is thorough, from splashing of water to realistic explosions. 8/10
TL;DR -
Watch if:
-You are a fan of militant movies
-Symbolism
-Surprise Endings
Dealbreaker if:
-You are not a fan of realistic violence
-You are not a fan of dialogue
-Movies where you must pay attention or you are easily distracted

You will read a lot of reviews from high schoolers and salty grown men both praising and insulting this show. "its so MANLY! LOL!"
But in all honesty, no review for this show is wrong. I personally think episodic shows suck unless theyre exactly what i want to see when playing a game on my phone etc. And theres 50 of them. If you like digesting anything in less than a week i guarantee you will hate it in that time span. This cannot be anything else than 1 beer too many or i cannot sleep type of show.
Nothing that happens as a surprise, stoic MC
...
does not talk or have any bit of development. In the SLIGHTEST. Imagine if Jigen Daisuke had no swag whatsoever, swole, and just doesnt talk or even have internal dialogue. LMAO ikr? tf is that? sounds like shit!
As serious as this show wants to take itself, it becomes a half thorough parody of itself. I mean like every episode I laugh when im not supposed to. Theres a clear appreciation for firearms, cool..? and everything else just kinda sucks (in a good way).
That being said, this shit is raw as hell! This is a show you can watch sub or dub, and with your normie friends that only like Toonami shit at that.
Enjoyment at an 8 everything else at a 6.
Watch for fun or noise, Skip if searching for mature show with compelling features.

If you loved FLCL dont read it,
If you like fast moving scenes constantly, ( i said fast not smooth) dont read it.
If you like smoking mid, dont read it. Im not here for the bs
I cannot stand anime like this for a very good reason. Dont hit me with "nah you just dont get it", No.
This is one of those shows where theres a different vanishing point in every scene and they studio didnt really want to use much else other than the story board. My eyes found it difficult to connect what was happening each frame even if i knew exactly what was happening.I
...
also have huge beef with the over reliance on the color black. But overall like there are a lot of parellels between this and my dislikes with FLCL.
Sex! Fucky fucky! Gunshots! Gore! Cum !! HAHA! Poop!!!! BAD Words!!!!! Drill dick. ?? HEEHEHE no sir this is unacceptable... an outcast middle schoolers wet dream and an early 2000's definition of "edgy".
I dont need to review the story, its not given to you for any real use. If you like a lot of fast moving frames and just over stimulation than you might actually like this. I can understand how, objectively speaking. But theres just a lot better stuff to watch. Go watch Redline or Space Dandy, etc. Anything else! idc. There's a plethora of epilepsy-warning-esque OVA's and anime that respect your dignity and time. By no means am i saying this movie was not ' Lit '. But by every means I am saying it is not GOOD.

I personally think this Gundam is the most successful of all of them. Because it is so different. It gave me the atmosphere I truly desired, getting to appreciate humans living in harmony with earth. The pacing and adventure of this Gundam is also unparalleled. I didn't have to see someone being deployed or read drab dialogue in a war room every episode to still love it. The abundance of characters were not a jumbled mess like most of the Gundam series.
While characters do feel very one dimensional or whiny and confusing in most of the series, (i guess for children to easily understand,)
...
comparably these characters felt nurtured and mature. Not just in terms of personality and likability, but motives, resolves, even their levels of intelligence and self-awareness. This show also was not a sob fest killing all the main characters like they normally resort to. This is probably my favorite with 08th MS team, maybe even more so. This was also the end of the timeline. And rightfully so. I definitely recommend this series!!

Okay, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. This review contains spoilers from my jaded adult perspective.
As I go down the list in the Gundam UC timeline, I am both happy and upset I watched all 50 episodes.
The art was fantastic, I was very pleased with the variety of environments through the entire show and the amount of different mobile suits was able to captivate me. The fights were very thorough, and left me hanging a lot of the time, but I'll discuss my grievances in depth with that later. The music was pretty bad ass too, a lot of anime from this time
...
period tend to nail it but I found myself wagging my foot to the entire soundtrack and I do mean all of it. Start to finish.
NOW THE REAL ISSUE I MUST DISCUSS: The Plot and Characters
Man o man. The plot was everywhere and no where at the same time. The AEUG wasn't really made clear they were the good guys, you just had to roll with it. The two factions (Titans and AEUG) also never really were given a sense of scale. Were these factions big on earth and in space? Or if these were just a few battleships skirmishing constantly? Then it came to a point there were like 4 factions? There was an action scene every episode, (which is good if you happen to like that) . But that left such little room for resolution each episode. That in itself posed its own issue as the second half of the show some quite horrific stuff would happen and it would just kinda either be skipped entirely after the recap post opening song or briefly mentioned by a character episodes later, but you probably already forgot the impact it was supposed to have.
But, I found myself entertained, bored, frustrated or fatigued, either all at once or separately, wayyy more than I could have ever wished for.
The Argama is basically White Base 2.0, so if you enjoyed the family drama aspect side of MSG this may suffice. A lot of Chars characteristics were expanded on in probably the most genuine way, and not just because he was on the "good guys" side. Char got to have a good amount extensional dialogue as well, which seemed fitting for me. Captain Bright was easy to love all of his time on screen as well. I wish I got to see more of Amuro, in the second half, but at the same time Im glad i didnt considering how much started happening at once. The villains were pretty enjoyable to watch on screen as they were one-dimensional while not predictable. It seemed that these stable characters were the only thing you could really grasp for the entirety of the show, which in my opinion does make a good character!
Kamille was the main character, and quite frankly said xor acted on whatever the fuck he felt like literally at the expense of others for 90% of the show. Just the first episode he punched the fuck out of someone for roasting his name, snuck off, stole a whole ass gundam, and managed to harm plenty of lives. Go from there. That being said, this was a drastic change from a more mild mannered MC, but anyone he interacted with made him more irate or whoever he was talking to that much more irritating. There was no dialogue not shared with one of the several bitches where "KAA MEEELE" was not said several times an episode, which you will literally find out in the first episode. I started to think my name was Kamille.
There was no love interest here, there was no cross section of lovers here. Only ingenuous women and children falling in love after like one interaction, and that said love was abused as one of the many plot devices for the rest of the show.
Fa was a jerk for most of the first half, making you question every interaction she had with almost anyone. Katz went from who is this little jerk? I love him, to quickly becoming in-love, foolish and disobedient at the flip of a coin. Emma was tolerable only half the time. Reccoa is the epitome of foolhardy woman. Sarah was blinded by her own misunderstanding literally on purpose. Four could have been likable but her Cyber newtype on/off bullshit got old really fast. and then it was abused with Rosamia. Who the FUCK is this idiot. I dont know what they were trying to say with the Cyber Newtype thing, but women are not fucking retards. It was almost disrespectful to a viewer with any sense of integrity lol.
A lot of this build up of animosity over time left me pissed off at the end of a lot of episodes, and especially fights. So many fights in Zeta were deliberate, but were just to abuse the formula of: X character can kill this person right now preventing countless atrocities from occurring, and will be cockblocked by a (huh, can i shoot..?)"Pull the trigger!!!!" *guy gets away* format.
If I seen more characters die, but not at the very end of the series, perhaps I could have cared more about the ones that were alive. I didn't know who had a crush on who and who was just very caring for who. So many names, factions, mobile suits, and plots were introduced, that contrast of events and dialogue quickly lost any effect. I could barely keep up with the mudslide of it all.
All this being said. I am glad I watched Zeta. And dont skip if you are watching UC in order. Save your skips for some of the more worse series. If you can stomach irritating characters, or just dont like to watch good anime in general, this probably will not bother you.

Okay, so as I make my way down the UC timeline, to date in order of occurrence. The figths are amazing and hand drawn. Thats all I can say or want to, you can read someone elses or just watch it.
My biggest reason to write this is to express my disappointment with these characters. Kou Uraki is your typical whiny sulking bitch-boy who knows too much about Gundams for his own good. The plot device of a woman known as Nina is a shit engineer who frequently just cries over him or her ex, who for some reason still feels devoted to protect. In my
...
opinion, these two some how oversaturate the story, without allowing me to feel any connection between the two, nor did I even want to like them as much as they irritated me with their shit elementary school crushes.
You can tell there was a shift in directors because the supporting characters that were just as enjoyable to watch as the fights themselves quickly took a backseat to the madness that became hard to follow the last 6 or 7 episodes. The op's and ending songs were very good, and if anything more compelling to want to watch the next episode.
Only watch if you are going down the line, if not, just go straight to Zeta.

Okay, I have been going in order down the UC timeline, and quite frankly this one just feels out of place. The freeform jazz is something you already have to appreciate in order to enjoy the theater it so constantly forces you into. But I have a lot of grievances with these 8 eps to the point where I have to write a review.
The music was something you will read about in almost every review because it is so prevalent. And I for one enjoy jazz. The soundtrack got to a nauseating point. It almost is telling you how to feel, and there is not
...
really any time to enjoy the dialogue or emotions that would naturally be evoked.
Also. this is year 0080 I believe. You want me to believe that within the same year of those well-thought out ground combat scenes in 08th MS Team, that they now are able to have extremely fast paced long distance combat in space and on ground? Feels very post 2010 anime. A lot of boring scrolling scenes.
Over the top action, still enjoyable, but the rather boring characters and scenes fail to make the fights stand out as eventful afterwards. There's just a lot of war misery porn that you become numb to. Seeing GM's and zaku's floating everywhere, cracked helmets of long dead pilots. Nothing but a yawn due to such a cluster fuck of story telling.
Only watch if you are trying to watch everything in order. It's not as meme as Igloo, but its not nearly as *good* as Stardust either. I had to force myself to finish the episodes just to say I did. Just go straight to Stardust.
