Hi there, I don't always write reviews (and this must be my first one), but I just wanted to write my opinion, so people don't get confused on just bad reviews. I think it's really underrated.

This anime is great to people who like slice of life with fantasy elements like me. Who like japanese traditional culture. But overall animes show just light and happy parts of life, and few of them show real life like it is: with it's bad and good parts. This one is part of that animes, that's why I liked it so much. I mean, when you see an anime ... about a village, the people is very kind, and almost ideal. In some animes could be a bad character in the village, but they make sure, that the viewer consider them a bad character, and not normal. But it's more like authors of such anime didn't talk with real village people, and haven't seen real village, maybe just as a tourist. But in this anime characters are really very well developed, and I can really imagine this story to be true, it fits in real people's life, except for talking bear :D (I use the word real too much, right? :\) The main character is a miko, who wants to study in a big city, but she has psychological issues. She is afraid of too much people, which leads to a problem when she goes to city. You would think why she is afraid of it that much, why would she think, that city people will not accept her, but people from small cities, villages really imagine such things when going to a big city. Yoshio is a character, that wants his village to be more popular, and does everything for his goal. His methods might seem rude, but again, the impression of him is like from a real person. In villages people are more open, and sometimes straightforward, naive, and in some situations shameless. These qualities will repel big-city people, if they don't appreciate their other good qualities. And the same is with this anime. If you are used to stereotypical characters, If you are used to animes, where everyone is almost ideal, and when they are not, they understand that and try to improve, then maybe this anime is not for you.
