Perhaps I set my standards to high when I'm over-critical of a shoujo-ai manga, but it's just who I am and what I do. This manga just...wasn't that great.
Story: The storyline is kind of all over the place for a 6-chapter shoujo ai manga. The thing about storytelling is that you give the reader a definite idea of what characters the story will focus around; you have a story that you want to tell and you tell it. Simple as that. This is especially important for short stories. Green doesn't do that. It provides unnecessary side-stories and love interests that don't add to the plot
...
or character development at all. It's trying to shove a bunch of weak love stories into six chapters when really the reader would have been happy with just one. (SPOILERS) The girl who was in love with the main character, for example. She was just kind of...there. If you aren't going to play with the "I'm in love with my best friend and she's in love with this other girl!" aspect then why even bother throwing it into the mix? It just leaves you wondering "Dude, what happened to that girl? What's up with that? Why was she even here?" Answer: She probably shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Art: The art is pretty nice, actually. It's not very unique, but I guess given the circumstances it doesn't really matter that much. It made me stare at it for a little while to take it in, which is definitely something good. I did think the mangaka overused screentones and textures a bit. It added to the mood in some parts, but at other times it just made me wonder if the mangaka just bought too much at the store and figured she had to use it all up. It wasn't TOO distracting, though, so don't let that discourage you.
Character: The characters, much like the love stories, were weak as hell. I didn't feel the slightest bit of empathy and I didn't fall in love with them at all. Hell, I didn't even fall in LIKE with them. Why did the characters even like each other at all? What do they see in each other? We never know. And we probably don't care either.
Overall: If you just want your quick yuri fix then this is a good manga to go for. Looking past all the little annoyances, it's pretty...okay I guess. If you want something that will leave even the tiniest impression, though, skip this one. It's not worth the fifteen minutes.
