If you listen really closely you can hear me screaming, "WHAT!? . . . WHAT!?" Its got twists galore and I'm sad to say leaves on an unsatisfied ending for me. Now, this will have my opinion threaded through it, so please be wary of that little tidbit. ^_^
Story: This anime is a mystery at its core, sure we have the touches of horror, gore, and little wide eyed middle school students wondering how to solve this issue in their classroom. While plentiful twists and turns in this that do make it a mystery it also has some problems. And you'll be able to see

them better when you've finished the last episode. Besides some very questionable motives and actions of characters, the final conclusion of this left me quite a bit bitter. So while there are parts to be praised for, there are also seeming to be an equal number questionable decisions that I think the writers need to revise . . . especially the ending. And I have to wonder if for the last two episodes they had a different direction set or something because they just don't seem to match up with the rest of the story.
Art: Well the art is my favorite thing about this, the backgrounds are just fantastic, atmosphere giving off a chilling vibe that really sets a good tone for a mystery or perhaps a horror if they decided to go more in that direction (and some people may say they did.) Character designs are just okay, constant thin little wide eyed school girls get to a point were I'd rather have more variety in the classroom here, especially for female characters. Heck the only one that really sticks out at all is probably our leading lady Mei, and its not just because of the eye patch.
Sound: I didn't like the opening, there I said it. The lyrics are fine, I just didn't like the instrumental accompaniment. Ending theme while a strange choice as well, I found that I didn't mind it as much, maybe choose a different background display to go with credits, heck if anyone just watched the credits they might be waaay led off on what type of anime this was.
Character: This gets a little tricky. While I will praise them for giving us a main character with a brain, they gave us a "life less doll" as our leading lady. Besides some lines and a background story she surprisingly doesn't contribute as much as you may have thought she would. The first few episodes are slow, and they all revolve around finding out about her and when all is said and done we really don't have a deep understanding of her. She's involved in quite a few parts of this story but she stays life less through out. She also annoyed me greatly when the series ended when you find out she had a pretty big . . . lets call it a clue, to solving this whole mystery. Sure its hinted at somethings up with her early on, but when you sit back and realize that if this lifeless doll had spoken up a lot of deaths to her classmates could have been avoided. If she showed any negative emotions toward them I could actually understand her silence, but thats just it, she doesn't care about anything. She's a lifeless doll of the most annoying kind. The other side characters aren't much better. There comes a point near the end were you wonder, "what is wrong with all of you? People are dead and you seem to just be able to brush it off." As the librarian put it oh so nicely in the english subtitle, "it's not normal."
Enjoyment: All right I'll admit I did enjoy parts of this. Sure take off was slow but sometimes you gotta expect that for a mystery, plus it wouldn't be a mystery unless a few red herrings were released to make the audience wonder. I did enjoy the gory parts, I always do. However with the tone of the story there comes an episode where you think, "holy balls this is deeply overdone." Good for a once over, stick with it for the first few episodes, I admit it gets off to a slow start, but there is some nice gore to watch. Its only twelve episodes long so if you want a shorter series to watch I say give it a go. But only when curiosity creeps into you. Then you can be as angry at the conclusion as I am. ^_^
