Decent guy fighting the good fight to keep his family, his friends and his hometown safe. Generic? Sure. Bad? Not this time.

Stories about the apparent underdog who discovers and evolves his skills just to figure out he was the hero all along are, for sure, a dime a dozen. Saikyou Tank fits the template perfectly. To satisfy his ego "the Hero" kicks the MC, Rud, from his party. But since Rud was only in the party to farm for a cure for his sister's illness, he recovers quickly and moves on. Which is followed by a satisfying success story built on self-betterment and compassion.

This one is like the gentle murmurs and tranquil flow of a forest stream amidst the howling and screaming turmoil of the world. A safe fantasy full of hope where everyone is free to live a fulfilled and happy life. Farming Life in Another World (Isekai Nonbiri Nouka) is a fairy tale of the "happily ever after" variety, uplifting and inspiring.

"Grandiosely generic and fantastically fair" is the one sentence I would use to describe The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Hyouken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu). Its a high-school slice-of-life infused with harem and bits of romcom in front of a fantasy backdrop. Except when the backdrop becomes the main story and turns everything into a menacing fantasy world based on magic-as-science which forces its inhabitants to grow and improve to survive.
The show successfully blends enjoyable parts of different genres together without overdoing it and as such is a very welcome breath of fresh air.
However: die-hard genre purists that are either into fantasy/isekai ...
