In a time when most light novels are isekai/reincarnation/transmigration stories with OP protagonists, this is a breath of fresh air.
Story: It's a lighthearted comedy of a girl disguising herself as a boy and becoming a knight. While there are the typical schemes and plot events which can only happen in fiction, it is not weighed down by romantic drivel and cringy angst plots. There is plenty of dramatic irony and funny hijinks.
Characters: The main character, Fie, has a refreshingly optimistic outlook. Actually, the characters in general are extremely likable. There is no specific ML at the moment; though if I had to guess,

This show is average to downright bad in looks. The story is boring and hard to follow. The music is forgettable. And, I didn't enjoy this, as evidenced by my never finishing it.
The art has this ugly muted color palette. Yeah, sure, it was going for some "dark and gritty" stuff, but the animation was so lackluster that it didn't work. They try to go for some "popping" scenes, but it uses these all red color palettes, and stays like that for far too long. There were some interesting colors with the weapons, I guess. It should be stated first that I have a bit of bias—I am a big fan of Jin, the creator of Kagerou Project and co-creator of Nirvana. Despite this, I did not go into this story expecting much. And that's exactly what I got—not much.
In the afterward of volume 1, Sayuki says that they set out to make a typical shounen but with one catch—the main character is a girl. So this story is basically an isekai story, except without the harem and less RPG elements.
