At it's core, True Tears is essentially a harem anime that focuses on internal personal conflict and touching story development. If you like the sort of harem anime that isn't all about slapstick comedy and fan service but rather about personal struggle and some touching relationships, True Tears is probably worth the 13 episodes. But be warned from the start, many people are displeased with the ending (I am one of those people).
Story (7): For a 13 episode series, it does a great job of sucking you right into the story and wanting to keep following it. There is no shortage
...
of drama, relationships, or conflict in this dare I say short series. Again, this is a drama harem at its core. The story seemed very good and I was very impressed until, of course, the end. That is what really kept this rating from being a 9. The ending just had no real resolution to the very developed and complex story and left a dry taste in my mouth. Even after listening to the drama CD and watching the 3 minute "epilogue," I still feel disappointed with the overall ending.
Art (9): The art was great in this anime. There was a recurring motif of art in the series and they pulled it off very well. Landscapes were gorgeous, lighting was dramatic and artistic, and characters were portrayed beautifully. The actual animation was done very well too, and there wasn't an abuse of stills that occur in some other animes where the production seems rushed in way.
Sound (8): The sound in this anime was fine. There were really only three sound tracks used in the entire show, but with only 13 episodes, the redundancy doesn't really get old, especially since it is very good music in the first place. The voice acting was also very good and reflected the characters personalities wonderfully.
Character (9): The characters in this show are very well constructed. Right from the beginning you get a pretty good idea of who they are, but they still retain an auro of mystery around them that is unveiled as the show progresses. Overall, the characters are vibrant, intriguing, and make you want to follow their stories. Character development is also very important in this show, given the large amount of internal conflict, and it is done very well. As the characters grow throughout the stories, they grow ever more interesting.
Enjoyment (6): As I said before, I was loving this show until the end. The lack of any real resolution to the intriguing story just made me angry. If you get hung up on endings, this show will just make you mad. If you care more about the journey and don't get worked up over endings, you will undoubtedly love this show. I was just left with such a dry taste in my mouth that I couldn't give it a high enjoyment rating. Again, this is the only flaw in the show, so take this into heavy consideration before deciding to watch.
Overall (7): It really is a great show with great art, music, characters and story, but the ending just didn't live up to the rest, and I could never really get by that. Again, if you get really annoyed with bad endings, you should probably avoid this, otherwise, I still think that it is totally worth the 13 episodes.

This was a great series (if you could call four OVA's a series). If I could give it a 9.5, I would. It was fantastic, only lacking something that made my jaw completely drop, which is why I just couldn't quite give it a 10. Totally worth watching and I would recommend this to anyone, though be immediately warned, there is a ton of blood and it can get pretty graphic (the opening of the first episode is actually as bad as it gets in terms of gruesome violence, so if can get through that, you should be good).
Story (10): The
...
story was outstanding. This isn't just another action anime. No, the action and sword fighting are more of a means to advance the plot. The pace felt just right. Interesting story line that will keep you involved. Also pretty original.
Art (9): The action scenes were done perfectly. The art was fantastic throughout and at times stunning and beautiful. Great job. Again, just not mind blowingly awesome enough to quite get a 10.
Sound (9): I started watching the series with an English dub, but it just wasn't quite working for me. I probably didn't give it a fair shot, but nonetheless, I switched to the sub part way through the first episode. I had no problems with the sub and I liked the soft voices that some of the characters had (especially kenshin, because it was a great juxtaposition/revealing of his true character). Try the dub if you want, but if you don't mind subs, I would recommend the sub. The music was very suiting and the effects were just right.
Character (10): Simply great character development. Character development is probably what this anime is all about, and they nailed it, getting just the right combination of sympathy and mystery.
Enjoyment (9): Overall a very enjoyable anime. Again I would highly recommend it. Just watch it (c'mon, it's only four episodes).

I loved this anime. It has a little different style to it than memories though. I think that the drama is higher and the love stories much more heart wrenching. I suppose it isn't 100% necessary to watch memories first for the main story, but it certainly fills in some gaps as there are some random references to the prequel.
Story (10): The story lines can make you pause and think for a little bit. However, that is only because it switches between past and present. Don't get me wrong, ef switches between stories and times quite nicely in a way
...
that flows wonderfully, but the simple nature that you are seeing the same characters in the past and present might be confusing for the first episode or so. That said, I loved the story in this. It is even better than in tale of memories. I don't want to give anything away, but the stories were just fantastic.
Art (9): Much like memories, the art can be pretty unique. The "regular stuff" won't blow you away. It's nice and pretty and at times beautiful, sure, but nothing that will make you pause the video just to look at a beautiful background. Basically it's is really well done (just not quite OMG enough for a 10). If you watched memories, you know what I mean when I say that at times the art is unique. You can tell the artists really tried to be artistic. And a lot of the times it works really well and to cool effect. However, sometimes the artists seem to go on these acid trips... it kinda works for the scene that they're in, but you may not like it too much. Overall, the art quite good, even unique at times, and in no way makes the viewing not enjoyable.
Sound (8): No complaints here. Everything was well done. There is a sub theme of music in the series (hence the name) and I would say the music was quite good and always did a great job of setting the mood or simply adding extra beauty.
Character (9): Some great characters in the series. The development was fantastic and the way they mered past and present was really good. You really got an idea for the characters and what they went through.
Enjoyment (10): I loved this anime. Kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't help but keep watching. Great stuff!
Overall (9): A fantastic series that I recommend to anyone who likes the romance, drama, slice of life style anime.

I abosolutely loved this show, and the sequel. But one thing I will say is that I don't think people should be reccomending other mecha shows for people who like code geass. This show was about so much more than the mecha fighting. Sure, the mecha stuff was cool and well done, but it was only really there to show off Lelouch's amazing strategic mind (like a big game of chess). Yes this show had action in it, but that wasn't what made it awesome. It had everything. It was thought provoking, profound, philsophocal, grabbing, and even had some
...
romance it in. Even the voice acting was the single best english dub I have ever heard. This is an anime not for the light of heart. If you are looking for a touching story to make you go "awwwwww," then this is not for you. But if you are looking for an amazing story, one that is truly original, where you follow the deep developement, trials, and tragedies of the characters involved, this is for you.
