Jul 6, 2019 was the last time I logged on to MAL. More than two years later, I am compelled to awake from my slumber to warn all those who dare watch this movie. Do not watch it. No amount of expletives I throw at the movie will express how shocked I am by the absolute incompetency of the people who directed and wrote this movie. The only saving grace in the movie was the art and music, which were probably the best I have ever seen from a movie. However, this was far from enough to save the abysmal dogshit writing. Mark me completely
...
surprised when I found that people were raving about the movie on MAL (a 7.8 rating???) and film critics were praising the movie all over. I hope to be one of the few voices of reason that highlight just how abysmal the movie actually is.
Art 10/10.
The art is really really well done. The 3d animation is probably one of the best I have seen out of other anime movies (although the standard is not high). It looks quite natural, and the lighting and surface textures are not at all unnerving. There were many times were the art style completely changed, however, the animation team was able to nail all of them perfectly.
Music 9-10/10.
The music was a banger, fits really well for the movie. In some aspects, the movie was trying to emulate those disney musicals. I must concede that the music is much better than what I would hear in those Disney musicals. I was bopping my head almost whenever the main character was singing. All in all, if the music sections of the movie were extracted and turned into music videos, I would have been completely blown away by them.
Story, character 1/10
Alas, all this good stuff was dragged to Tartarus by the shitty story. The counterpoint between art/music and story is extremely jarring, which makes the story even worse than it already is. The writing literally defiles all the good work that the animation and music team put into production. First the pacing. The movie was a literal freight train at the start, just cramming random plot points into the audience. Since there were multiple story-lines, there were also multiple movie climaxes in the movie. A grand audition (which ends with a Nausicaa-esque golden thing). A final showdown with an abusive parent. A half-baked (no, rotten) love story. The movie shifts from slice of life, to tv-show esque comedy, to sci-fi, to fighting, to just everything. This is not a good thing, because it just makes the movie a garbled mess. There are some moments at the start where I became excited for the slice of life, country life montage depictions (which were really nicely done). The art direction seemed on point. However, like every coherent idea and compelling part of the movie, it is immediately wiped blank from the writing team's mind. The movie attempts to shift between a virtual world and real world, but fails insanely hard at it. To illustrate, what the virtual world avatar did in the virtual world was literally different from what the real world character was doing in real time. Tf? So the virtual avatar could be singing, while the main character is scrolling through the internet, yet somehow they share a consciousness?? The stupid logic of the movie was damn annoying.
This should have been a sign to me right away that the movie was going to be shit. If cinema sins did a video on this, they would get copyright striked because they would literally broadcast the movie in its entirety. The story must be the worst I have even seen out of a movie, book, or comic. What the actual fuck. Characters have 0 development and are almost all forgettable. This is due in part to the clusterfuck amount of characters, and just the general unlikeability of the characters. You might have read reviews of other movies that talk about not being able to sympathise with the characters. This movie is that, but to a whole other level. At the end, you will hope that almost all the characters go to hell for their shitty choices. The main character is like a bootleg mary sue (I don't know how that even possible), except they run away at the sight of any challenge, and fucking cries all the time. Whenever they cry, I physically cringed in my seat, and wanted to go through the screen and kick some sense into them. Furthermore, the story had more plot holes than plot. Every decision made by the writers were unsatisfied and unjustified. Literally no questions were answered. To highlight this, the main character randomly wants to find out the identity of another person in the virtual world. This is literally a big part of the plot. There many other moments that happen in the story, "just cause". It will literally take me an undergraduate thesis worth of writing to point out all the movie's mistakes. It's like the writers were trying to emulate a super shitty bootleg kafka, or trying to recreate a super shitty paprika (the movie). There is no meaning behind anything, and no stakes in the story. All attempts at creating conflict is super artificial and falls flat. The whole movie is just a vacuous piece of shit. The 3/10 reviewer BigOat put it well. A gold covered turd is still a turd.
Now, the crux of this review. Should you watch this movie? I personally implore you to not watch this movie if you value plot coherency and logic; actually reasoned and justified writing decisions; and have at least some taste in entertainment media. This movie puts you through all 9 circles of hell and back again. Overall, this movie is a 1/10. Pathetic, as MAL puts it. If you somehow still decide to watch this movie, know that you will come out spiteful and vengeful - perplexed at how someone could fail so horribly at writing a basic story.

Just one word to describe such a work.
Masterpiece.
The best ongoing manga now and in a long time, and rightfully so.
Firstly, I would like to present myself as someone who has fairly high standards, or at least I claim to be so.
If you were to check out my profile, you will find how cruel I am a critic. Berserk, which seems to be the highest rated manga on animelist, would be nowhere near my list of very good manga, although I gave it an high score. Yet this manga, for now, sits among the top for all the manga I have read. Amazing, truly amazingly
...
constructed if each chapters are read without the pre notion of an connection between them, suiting my queer taste in manga.
You have to read this right away. NOW. Or at least some time later, and I have nothing else to say. Most people will probably like this, while some people might not like it for its predictable plot, or its fairly boring and repetitive themes. I would like to say think again to such people.
REMEMBER: This manga is only good by its one shot-like chapters. The complete, overarching story is really really uninteresting and generic and without all these interesting elements/subplots I would have made the score, and so my regard, much lower.
Story:nine
The story is basically about a guy who goes killing people under other peoples request, although you should not take heed of that. Each chapter is fairly unique in its own way, and there is a overall link that ties them together, yet most of them have a similar outcome, so one might get bored of that, and feel that its riddled with deja vu and cliches. I, on the other hand, found that these cliches where actually not that bad. Although it might have been repetitive to some, every story still retained a sense of provocativeness. I must almost commend how it is fairly seinen, unlike most seinen posers. The chapters may seem to be not long enough, or it may even be way too long, yet I found it to be structure well into such few pages. Very very interesting composition of the manga. Very very structured individually. Other than this, I don't have much to say for now.
It is fairly interesting how the manga artist author also drew shoujo micheavilsm which was BAD, not only as an anime, but more so as a manga, which points out the deranged nature of the anime manga production in present times.
Art:eight
But that also means that the author draws very well. That is the phenomenon commonplace among manga nowadays. Good graphics, bad story. This, maybe because of a good story author, had the manga in a good position both graphics and story wise. Fairly interesting, and there is even an old element included, so it seems more grander. Art is not that important, unless the art is disgustingly bad, or it is focused on the art, which this manga is not, and so it is not something to take heed of.
Character:Four
Characters are not that well made, all are boring and forgettable and fit a bit too easily into the plot. I do not like how the characters were made, but it is the plot that truly captured me, a point that I should have to reiterate again and again.
Enjoyment: Nine
This is insanely good stuff, a very heartwarming read. When I feel like it, and have more to talk about I may update this with more of my thoughts but is very very good. I especially liked chapter three as it was fairly, how do say, engaging. Pretty interesting plot and I am craving for more of the subplots, and individual chapters plots, rather than the overarching story, which is fairly uninteresting.
Over:nine
And thats why I gave this a nine overall. It has everything and has almost zero flaws, almost zero. The only problem i have is that the overarching story is boring, and so thats why I did not give this a ten. Maybe something might change, maybe there will better integrations. The overarching story does not tie very well with the subplots from what I have seen.
Readers tastes: If you are not into dark manga, you won't enjoy this. If you are not into psychological Seinen manga, you would probably like this, as although it is psychological, this differs from many of the manga in that genre, as you won't see too much of those weak characters who get pounded and NTR happens to them all the time and character development is gruesome, as THIS IS BASICALLY A COMPILATIONS OF ONE SHOTS. If you look at it from that perspective, I think your enjoyment would be raised significantly.
And if you finished my review up until here, I'd have to say READ IT. It should be worth your time.

I was going to give it a high score. I really was going to. But I just can't anymore.
Story:1
The story is very mediocre, non existent in consistency and the backstories just come in big bulks later on in the manga. Very bad development, nonsensical motives for everything that happens. It just is not enough to hook me on.
This is one of the manga that tries to be seinen, as the genre suggests, and some very philosophical elements were showing up. But then all of that was ditched for a mediocre plot that was bland and lacked any real value for reading
Random things just pop
...
out of nowhere, to a point that it is fairly nonsensical
Now the main thing is how the story is name BEASTARS yet for some reason it isn't mentioned anywhere other than the start. Oh my fk I'm just going to kill my self from this lack of consistency
Art:7
Art is good, characters are made well, just some psychological parts are drawn pretty weirdly
Character:3
For some reason, I can't get a good grasp on characters as they always have a shift in personality
But something interesting I noticed was their correlation to sin
The wolf character is enduring a self conflict as he has the role of a carnivore, he must not act upon his desires to eat meat and has to follow by societies rules, were the carnivores are mostly considered outcasts, the people who always commit crimes while herbivores and such hold a high status. He tries to eat the bunny yet is not able to do so, and starts liking the bunny. This character is pretty annoying and pestering and the bunny seems to start h aving feelings for him. Overall he is a badly made character and I am fairly disgusted at the sight of him yet...
This character represents gluttony, lust
The bunny is the worst of the lot, a slut, someone who has a lot of sexual partners. She hides everything through her innocent looking face, and then turns seinen mode by stripping and doing random shit with everyone. It seems a lot of people have fallen victim to her and so she is constantly bullied for being the primary person in peoples affairs. She just claims she wants to be an equal but it is pretty obvious she is trying to aim higher up in status, as if her status as a herbivore was not enough. She is evil and my eyes would definitely bleed at the sight of this character.
This character represents envy, sloth
The deer dude is the student council president that is seen to be the boss for things the wolf enrol in, and he wants to be a beastar, something that allows the student to get a free pass to a high social status and such. He is a pretty annoying character.
This character represents pride, greed, wrath
Sorry if this hypothesis is wrong.
Enjoyment:6
I was still able to read this in one setting, so this should be slightly enjoyable, as it is not seinen to the point where it is disgusting
Overall:
This manga is not decent, which is a four, so I am giving it a three. It could have been better, but it was executed very very poorly. Very poorly. And so, I suggest that you don't read this shit.

This manga is not good, yet it is not bad enough to deserve a one yet.
I suggest that you dont waste your fking time reading this manga. There is basically no plot. PLease, dont read this:
RECOMMENDATIONS: Better shit than this
If u want to look at harem, look at fking hayate no gotuko instead
If u want psychological, there are so many good ones, and more bad ones. It is hard to differ a good one from a bad one. Dont trust the scores. I would start at liars game, or one outs, as these are fairly decent
If u wont comedy x romance, then look at fking
...
one sided love GTO
This manga is like a shoujo trying to be a seinen, and the only bad part of it is its echii parts
Spoilers Beyond this point
This manga is too overated. WTF who would give a ten to this shiet. Nine, eight? Something wrong with these reviewers. Everything is bad about manga, and so it does not really matter how good the art is. Turns out to be a fking HAREM manga which makes this fairly bad. All the boys have their own fking harem, especially that glasses guy.
Story: 2
Story actually starts off good, as there is fking feminism everywhere, and so the females have taken over the school. It seems that it is a co ed school scenario. These unknowing pervert comes into this school, and then he immediatly does some perveted things. Random shit happens, the council, with the principal with ass fetish aproving them being locke up, then the mc just talks with principal about there love of butts. The mc is lying, he actually has a thing for bobs. They talk about how the first fking thing a man sees is a bumm. THen the council gets kicked into the jail, reversing roles with boys, then the boys team up to fight the new tudent council. Alot of werid stuff happens in the process. The funny thing is that we do not even know what they are fighting for. Andrea the fat dck kid is a masochist, so he does not care about fking freedom. No point in this story, and there is no comedy element. THe genres include: Adult, memes, echii, psychological. Thats about it. Nothing good about plot, badly developed.
Characters: 1
Andrea, the fat masochist, appears in all the dcks that appear in this. They all have a smiling face of his. THis guys is legit disgusting weird unreadable. Fking shit character, one of the worst.
Four eyes: This guy is the third best out of this foursome/ fivesome. Likes fking romance of three kingdoms. He self scrafices alot, yet the bad thing about his character is that is like a typical harem mc, whose blushes around all the fking ugly girls
Ant god: THis guy is the second best, nothing wrong with him, follows the self sacrifice trend, this guys has magical powers
Weird blonde dude: This guy is a cnt
MC: Dude has around two people liking him, as far as I can see, plz dont roast me if someone likes him. Its the pee girl and the fking student council prezi's sister. Shit guy, something wrong with this fking pervert. U would see, he also self sacrifices, but for a greater good/extent. Pretty lame character, also likes blushing.
Water bottle god: WOW, the best character is a fking inanimate object guys, yes, the characters are that shit. This guy is a sythetic god made out of water bottles. I suppose he is the guy they worship so they would get to do shit with girls.
All the characters are autistic, even the ant god who wanted to suicide.
Enjoyment: 1
Dude, this manga is so good, that it deserves a solid one. Well deserved man, I thouroughly DID not enjoy this manga, I want to kill my self after this.
At least there is no fking hontai, so
Overall:2
Dont waste your time on this one, dont know why all the other people gave it such a good rating, most likely because they are perverted like these cnts. Badly developed, has no definite genre except for adult, as it is too dense in exploring these areas, the genres.
After reading this, I want to look at some jake paul, and drink bleach and die yay

This manga is really bad. It tries to be a horror manga, which it successfully does on the surface, but when one really goes into it, one would realise how bad this manga actually is.
Edit:Go fking read some good manga, I would be a good guy here and suggest that you read horror manga before 2010, yet some of the bests ones are older. This manga is comparable Scumbag loser and that manga is a fking joke trust me
Story(2): It is a pretty shit story, which contains multiple short stories which all tie into the dead tube website. First story had a plot twist that
...
was weird, and the same goes for all the other ones. As each chapter unfolds, things get more grim, and then all the occurring characters are portrayed as corrupt people, and everyone has been raped before. With each story, I felt that I was getting most autistic. Everything made sense, and the story is straight forward, but it was portrayed in a way that hides everything from the reader, which makes a shit story even more shit. The ecchi element to this manga is very unnecessary, and my overall rating would be up by 1 or 2 if it wasn't for this. I know I am being very harsh to this manga, yet whenever I look at this and think of Uzumaki, which I don't think has much, or even any, sexual themes, I just laugh and want to kill the author for wasting a few hours of my life. I became dumber through this horrible experience. The only impact this story has is from the rape that happens every chapter that has made me more and more fkd and now I am a brainless blob.
Art(6): Art is fine, fits in with most of the light horror manga with not much essence to it (with the only selling point being the art, rather than the plot or anything else). Characters, when desperate, are portrayed weirdly.
Warning: Spoilers
Characters(1): Male protagonist: is not even a good guy, has fetishes for dead things, and killing, and gets boners from them. Very shallow guy, does not even have a fixed personality, always changes without reason. Female secondary protagonist: likes killing people, and does not really care about anyone except for MC? Kind of like a shit yandere that is disgusting to look at even fully clothed. Blonde slut: person with glasses, think she likes mc in the start, then realise she was acting, and that she probably does IT everyday since the age of 1, so it is like a basic instinct for her, and she is the slut of sluts, nobody can ever rape her because she always likes/does not care about it. Blonde slut 2: person with long hair, likes MC, got raped. Then there is a myriad of useless other characters who have barely any impact on the story.
Enjoyment(1): If there was a zero option I would chose that. Don't know why I kept looking at it though
Overall(1): Don't know why the rating is so high, it is 7.49 more than it deserves, reflects a shitty Japanese culture. It tries to be a good horror manga except it is not, it is very cancerous, and is much like the top 100 manga fox horror manga which are new and shit to the core. There must be something wrong with the people who give this more than a 3. A 3 is already pushing my limits.
Thanks for reading and don't was your time looking at this garbage or else you would suicide and/or become lifeless.
Edit: There are far more manga that are better than this. In fact, almost all anime is better than this other than fking Yaoi and shit. The only reason people give it such a high score is because they think that this manga is psychological, and such yet to me, the selling point to alot of horror manga is not the fking dumbshit plot, its the setting that counts, and the setting in this manga is so generic that I want to die.
