story, 10/10
i may be or may be not exaggerating with this rating but this is definitely one of the best fantasy anime when it comes to the actual story. first of all the plot itself is very unusual in the anime scene, also specifically in the fantasy genre. it's not that common but it's also not THAT rare, that's why this caught my attention in the first place.
in the first few episodes, it was kinda meh. some parts it was boring, some parts it's too good. the problem is the consistency. when you get too bored, almost dropping the show, here comes suddenly a great episode. the "plot twists" were so good too, and how they told the story. irdek how to describe like in very specific adjectives but as i said, i really liked the story. one of the best in the fantasy genre. liked it that i wrote this review.
and yk what's another good thing about this? no excessive fan service! no unnecessary pervert characters for "comedy", no misogyny or problematic jokes or anything of the sort! everything is clean!!

meh. everything was mid tbh. added extra points bc of the character designs, especially mernes. he was one of the reasons why i didnt drop this show if im being honest. animation was bad, but improved in the last few episodes with that final fight. in some scenes the animation and art was so bad that i had to skip some seconds out of cringe. in some cases i cant really take the show seriously on how bad it looked, one of the reasons on why i almost dropped the show. but all in all the animation is just, the bare minimum. that's why nothing stood out to me, and ive seen worse. the art in the second ED too was great. love it. nothing else stood out to me (out of memory). all in all character design carried this category. i really loved it.

yeah opening and ending songs are your average generic anime song you hear. BUT! that second ending song????? that was so good?????? that was de messiah by nao toyama https://open.spotify.com/track/3KnUNThgGLUcGMTiOtyPYl?si=85ffdd6b5dbb4f77 considering i listen to all kinds of music this really stood out. you really dont see this song genre everyday, and they made it perfect. i can imagine just travelling at night in an empty highway with this playing. and to think that i rarely even like anime songs, last one i liked was in fall of 2021 with bang by egoist and laika by nanawo akari, and this season along with de messiah is who said we are idiots by dialogue+.
music and sound in the anime itself was mid. nothing stood out to me. the second ED carried this category.
character, 8/10
honestly i dont even know what to judge with this category,, "character" is too vague. but im still gonna try to review.
out of all characters, i really liked leo's personality the most, with mernes in second. they really made him so likeable. him being funny sometimes but also respectable and serious at times too. i cant point out specifically why i like him but you cant really hate him for no reason, if you do youre just seeking clout trust me youre not "quirky" or "different" youre just embarrassing yourself stop it.
in character development mernes takes the crown. he really grew so much in just a 12 episode series. he really went from mid to best boi. i really loved the way he really tries to improve himself genuinely. next one is lily. i really loved how in her episode she really tries to help, i was under the impression that she's just another some generic anime child until that episode. and i LOVE clingy children. she's definitely one of the good ones. most kids are too annoying that i just want to... yk...
the rest of the characters are unfortunately just average or below. leo, mernes, and lily carried this category

as i said, the show is too inconsistent, hence why i took away a point. the art and animation was bad, so i took away another point. but i still rather enjoyed the show all in all. some episodes i cried, i crew, and i crode. i rarely even sob while watching anime, cant even remember the last time i did. idk what else to say so ill just end it here

tbh i was planning to give this a 10/10 but it changed when i wrote this review,,, but all in all it's a good show! if they gave this show a better budget then this would be soooo much better because the story has SO much potential but they ruined it. good thing they delivered the story properly or else this would be your average generic fantasy anime. but tbh if the story is the only good thing here well this show would be bad but thank god there are some good things in other categories too, really made the show better. the story really carried this show.
TLDR the story is 10/10 everything else was mid but i still encourage yall to watch this show.
