The first episode will grab your attention and hook you on the plot. It takes 13 historical figures and gods and clashes them together and the first to win 7 battles decides the fate of humanity, interesting right? Just wait until you've watched the first fight.
The fights are easy to explain; one move, five minutes of dialogue, another move, 5 minutes of dialogue. the manga is a different story.
It feels as if this manga was not meant to be adapted into anime, what dialogue is split into 5 minute intersections, is instead split into a page worth of panels until you get right back into the action. It flows really well between action, narration, and chatter amongst the crowd, and it holds anticipation on what is to happen next extraordinarily well.
Of course, this isn't a review for the manga, it just didn't feel right to explain how bad the anime was without expressing how good the manga is in comparison.
TL,DR: Watch the first two episodes, if you like the plot and not the tempo, read the manga.
