Oh damn another cute MC heroine.
You would expect a wholesome lovely and clingy heroine but this time our MC heroine is someone I wouldn't expect to be this relatable and ungirly like. She's incredible in terms of MC material, we want to know more about her as a character rather than just simply living for its sake or what the show would say: three great desires. This girl is actually a gamer, cat-lover, and likes to eat sweets, especially chocolates but one day, some creature took these three away from our Anzu--our MC and her life are ruined in an excellent way.
Bear with this
...
anime until the end because you won't regret it, you are seeing this from someone who actually watches anime and that's me-- a weeb. To convince you more, we have three ikemen for this one, the childhood friend ikemen, the popular ikemen in highschool, and the richkid ikemen. They are what you wouldn't expect them to be just because of these cliches in most romance anime. They won't fall in love at first sight, they won't be affectionate in earlier episodes, and when they sometimes do, it's where things gets cute and wholesome.
The pacing is great, you would just watch this to satiate your romance fantasizing.
For our MC, I like that they did some funny expressions of her, making her into an obvious romance comedy show.
Lastly, our characters aside from our MC, they do have a backstory that is worth telling so make sure to watch it now. They have depth as a character, the expression they make, their motivations, their reasons for their current predicament are hidden beneath to what they show outside.
Compare this to other romance, it wouldn't be as unique if the MC is much more girly like but I haven't watch romance comedy myself a lot so I can't really assume. Either way, just watch it, do yourself a favor.

This is coming from an anime weeb who has watched more than 250+ animes but compared to others, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at their massive 1000+ anime watched, I'm so weak compared to them. Anyway, point is, even tho I'm a weeb, I'm still not used to sci-fi, much less when it comes to outer space. So, this review is rather amateurish so bear with me.
I felt a pull to my heart on some of the characters when they fulfilled their purpose after their last breath, which is something I didn't expect and that I would connect and relate to them. I love space
...
movies, so I watched this anime just because the setting is outer space. It's 3D, which is why most anime fans wouldn't prefer but I still watched it anyway just for a different experience.
Going back to the main topic, I didn't know how to feel about the main character Nina at first but her last moments are the events that got me to love her. For Mack, I like this dude, he's not that particularly unique, I don't even remember if he has any flashbacks to have a peek at his backstory but w/o even that, they still managed to make me like him by giving us the idea that he has his own principle, values, and purpose. Lewes too, I feel a lot for this dude, you get it too.
One aspect I didn't like was the execution and the emphasis on their surroundings. It's close to nitpicking if it comes to the latter but the execution is severely lacking. I don't know exactly what execution means but I'll write as if I understand the general idea. They could have put more emphasis and foreshadowing. I didn't even know Patty has her own printing machine(?), or I just miss it during my watch, they made it appear as if "Wahaha, I got printed first before you so know I'm ahead of you," it's something you use whenever you just need to fit in the gap and appear as if it was smartly done. They could have shown hints here and there but they mostly didn't.
The ending tho, the ending left a long-lasting impression, it was worth it I thought while watching the greeneries unfold within the screen. It was a fine ending, with nothing left to be unsatisfied about.
It was good, not that bad or amazing. It's something I might forget after a year or two but might retain more than that who knows.

If you want to feel the breeze and vibe of this so-called night then definitely check this series out! Not only the music are effortlessly fit the anime's setting atmosphere, but the aesthetic, arts, and designs are pleasing to the eyes. So, you can just relax mostly and vibe with our 14 y.o. MC Yamori Ko with our vampire friend Nanakusa along with the night.
Interestingly, every episode (1-13) is formatted or called "Night 1-13" which adds more to what you originally expected just from the title: Call of the Night anime. From here on out, you can see what I'm trying to point
...
out, yes, the anime's strong and high-quality aspects are its music and theme! I definitely need to emphasize that vampires exist and that they will be explored character by character, each had its own lifestyle, motivation, and backstory. So don't expect "vampires=bad, human=good."
Season 1 gives you more of a character-driven and the feels of the night with the concept of blood and vampires. It is not gory, in fact, blood isn't that prevailing instrument for this anime to be considered good, the waifus are-- I mean the character themselves make it so the story doesn't need too much action but there is action trust me and they are smoothly well done. And the romance, yes the romance, definitely, our MC feels like his age, Idk about you guys but anime has this type of age in consideration when it comes to their physical appearance and maturity and Yamori Ko feels more like it, anyways you can look forward to the romance development between Yamori Ko and Nanakusa, it's gonna be lovely and you love to see it.
Don't be taken away by the others who think this anime is offensive, it's definitely one of this season's gems. If you want to know what I mean, ask the fanbase or the internet. As I mentioned before, this anime forte it's not because of the character's relations but the theme itself.
I recommend this anime for those who want to experience something new, not for the sake of promoting the "goodness of the night outside," it's because I want you to feel the message of the story, the character's motivations and reasons, and the call of the night.
