Beastars is the first manga I really fell in love with. I took my time with the first few volumes and it led to borderline obsession with the series. I really enjoyed the first half of it, so much so that it led to me thinking about it during my shifts and at school. I was so incredibly invested in the story that I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the next volume.
As I was getting further into the manga though (give or take, vol. 15 onwards), my obsession with the manga started slowly dwindling. A friend had warned me of its decline

in quality in the latter half, and while I didn't want to believe him, I now have to admit he was sadly right. There's a bunch of things Paru introduces but ceases to expand on, and at some points, I facepalmed at the absurdity of what was unveiling in front of me. Still though, I was enthralled by Beastars, and while the ending certainly didn't live up to the expectations, I still can't let it go with a score lower than 8. Perhaps if it wasn't the first manga I got really into, I would've given it a lower score. Despite its flaws, I still recommend Beastars, as the enjoyment I found in it is comparable to only a handful of media I've consumed in my life.
