Blue Period is a love letter to the creatives and the artists who are just finding their footing in the big wide world, and as one of those people, I love this show. It's brilliant, it's nuanced, and it inspires me to create so much art of my own, which is just an added bonus. Yaguchi's journey as he learns and grows in and through his art is honestly a joy to watch, and it doesn't back away from the harder and less than ideal parts of pursuing a career and education in the arts.

Don't waste your time.
This series was shaping up to be a brilliant one, but fell victim to poor planning and rushed execution. The art is incredibly beautiful and there is a good soundscape, but that's all there is to it. What had the potential to be an interesting and thought-provoking storyline about bullying, mental health issues in teenage girls and friendships fell prey to its own ambitions and became a confusing, bloated mess that would need another whole season or two to fully unpack and develop.
