I'm not a very good writer, sorry if I'm not able to properly articulate my exact feelings on the show.
The art/animation is outstanding. Nothing really to say here. The one failing moment was their attempt at CG water during some of the scenes with Caster.
The sound track was a near copy of Fate/Zero. It would have been more appropriate to invent new songs. Instead we see recycling of old ones. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it would have been nice to have something entirely new for a new show.
The characters are were this starts to fall apart. Excluding the fact that each conversation
...
feels like a quick-time event, the 2 main characters Rin & Emiya lack proper depth. And by "proper" I mean something that is believable. It's one thing for a character to have flaws, it's a whole other for them to do something entirely out of character. They also have a tendency to "flicker" characters. We see them once at some random point, then never again. Or maybe a quick cameo. What happened to lancer? Who cares! What's berserker up to? Lol, like that even matters. It's fine if you don't evenly distribute attention to each character, but that's not what's happening here. This is simply ignoring something potentially interesting so we can watch Emiya spout his hero of justice thing again. His inner conflict is largely uninteresting as it has no real moral conundrum to it.
There were around 10 battles/fights in this season. More then half of them end with a nonsensical retreat from the winning side. The first time this happens (with Rin) I disregard it. The second time, okay a little odd. But by the time we get near the end of the season and it's still happening I can't help but laugh at it's ludicrousness. There's such powerful plot armor around Emiya nothing feels even remotely threatening.
The story was what really kill this for me. I fear that if I were to properly explain it I'd get angry and it wouldn't be worth it. What pisses me off the most is the inconsistencies. Sure, if you're a 12 year old you won't notice them, but anyone who has experience with plot interpretation would be banging their head near the end of the season.
Objectively this is probably a 6/10. It's an above amazing animation with below average characters and plot resulting in a slightly above average anime as a whole.
If you like super flashy fight scenes and awkward facial expressions this anime is for you.
If you're looking for complex character interactions and ideals that make you think you might want to skip this one.

Ah what to say what to say. Baccano, my dear friend. Your end will not be forgotten, and your beginning shall be treasured forever.
Imagine a storyline that's pretty darn entertaining to watch. It's well developed and so are the characters in it. Now imagine 3 storylines told in such a way that even if they were boring, the way its told is fascinatingly entertaining. Throw in a wide range of humor that will appeal to everyone in at least one point of the series and you got Baccano.
Now, "thrown in" is a bad word for how this masterpiece was constructed and probably shouldn't ever be
...
associated with Baccano. If you'll humor me with my analogies, it's like a fashion designer purposefully looking a little ragged because it's fashionable.
Well time to get to the nitty gritty of all... this:
The Storyline(s) + Characters:
I've put these 2 together for a reason.
Not going to lie, the storyline is not the absolute best I've ever seen, but it's somewhat original and the characters that tell it definitely make up for some of the iffy parts. This is where spoilers usually appear so I'll try to shut my mouth. You just got to know that it's all scrambled up and you'll think it's confusing. But it's not. Because you're able to associate your favorite characters to each of the storylines and remember exactly who they and what they're like. Even though there's a lot going on, there's a lot of characters to. And I guarantee you'll have your own opinion on each of the characters and also know exactly who they are. They breath which makes the story come alive and seem as if it might of actually happened. Add in the fact that they can joke a bit but still not lose the seriousness needed for some of the scenes and you've got yourself a damn near perfect set of troopers ready to entertain.
8/10 for the story
10/10 (if I could give it 11 I would) for the characters
Art:
This is my sweet spot. I personally love this style, because it seems so fluid and works with just about every setting. It's an over exaggeration of certain features, but not too much to the point of ridiculousness. The art puts emphasis where its needed. It has a little randomness, but not to the extent where it'll annoy you. Plus the physics are amazing.
10/10 sir, you've done well
Sound:
It is rare that I get the sound track for an anime. Maybe its because I like classic american mob music, or maybe I'm able to envision the scenes where the songs where played. I don't know. Either way, no better suited for this type of setting.
10/10, if you like this setting you'll like the sound track that goes with it
Overall:
Would recommend it to anyone who knows what a good anime is (and even those who don't). Only thing I could possibly complain about is that after I saw this it took 2 or 3 weeks for me to watch other animes, because they all seemed under par from then on out.
Oh btw, if you're still not sure you should go on youtube and watch "Baccano Swing". That's what made me want to watch Baccano :)
Peace

Brain's Base Studios has done it again.
The real reason I started to watch it, was because it was made by the same people who made Baccano! (my favorite anime). Other wise, that simple overview looks very unappealing
Well lets get right into it shall we?
First off, since the anime is still airing I can't accurately judge the storyline. However, 5 episodes have been released and they've looked great so far. The storyline looks cliche and boring at first, but trust me, it does get better.
Anyways, on to the art. This is what really catches everyone's attention. It's so amazingly smooth. They focus in on just the
...
right times and everything is so expertly done that even if you had a bad storyline it would still be entertaining to watch. That's just how good it is. I could explain every detail about it's dynamics, but it's much more enjoyable if you just see it for yourself
As for the sound. I can't say I was as impressed as I was with their last project, but they set the bar pretty high for themselves. It fits in with each scene nicely, but sometimes I find myself wanting something more than what they're giving. However, it's nothing to stress over and doesn't ruin the series as a whole.
Onto the hard part... characters. If I gave a review watching only the first 3 episode I'd most definitely give them a 4/10. However, these latest episodes really impressed me. They started to focus in on their second protagonist (headless girl), and realistically portrayed her. The boy however is a bit cliche, but can surprise you sometimes by how in-depth it gets into him. But what the producers did so well last time (in Baccano!) did again this time, made amazing supporting characters. They out shine the main characters, which doesn't bother me, because you see them a lot anyways.
The whole anime is expertly done. It has just the right amount of comedy, tragedy, and drama to make all the themes flow seamlessly together. It's one of those animes that's hard to find a person who won't like it (although some people might be neutral). I'm not saying it's the best out there, but it's a must watch either way.
