It's honestly a whole lotta nothing. There's no build, no tension. It just simply...is. The opening is confusing and it's mostly hey we gotta get to point B. I was shocked when I looked at the time and with 30 minutes to go there wasn't much buildup.
Some movies are enjoyable, this one just felt like a movie where they ninja-ran places and had a few fights. That's it. That's the entire plot. It's hard to really feel any tension with the prediction of Naruto's death....since, you know....he's the main character.
Some of the art was at odds with each other too. Like, the terracotta

So, I really enjoyed Soul Eater and I don't mind slice of life. However, this story has a bit of an identity crisis. It starts out as slice of life and ends up trying to be dramatic in the last fourish episodes. It causes the ending of the story to feel rushed. The battles aren't satisfying and end too quickly, especially since the students are NOT students.
There were parts that were just....not making sense. The fact that the NOT students, ones who were just joining the academy are able to resonante together so quickly. The girl who is the weapon in the story couldn't control ... |
