The World After the Fall

Read about 20 chapters in which is close to the amount released at the time of writing, Has interesting ideas that pulled me in initially, but began to really drag on after the first couple of chapters. I can't bring myself to care about the characters, as we're only introduced to the MC at the end of his (initial) journey. They frequently flashback to characters from the MC's past, who we don't know at all and as far as I can tell have no plans to be properly introduced, so there's no emotional impact to any of these scenes. All new characters introduced are so

It's amazing how this show can have such cool fights, that i'm completely and utterly not interested in in the slightest.
This show is basically just a fanfiction given anime form, and it really suffers for it. It feels like there are no real stakes, because everything is strictly non-canon and it's just throwing whatever characters in and out of the mix without establishing who is there or why beyond maybe one line of dialogue, and then it's right back into the fighting. There's no sense of "Are they really on their last legs, or will there suddenly be Jiren here for some reason unexplained now ... Sep 5, 2021
This anime feels like it's just working down a checklist of common anime tropes both from the genre at large and vrmmo stuff specifically. It has a few unique ideas but doesn't really execute them very well. All in all, It's the most perfectly average anime i've watched in a long while. It does nothing exceptional, and nothing exceptionally bad. It's just bland. This is the Oatmeal of VRmmo animes. This isn't worth your time unless you've somehow seen every single other VRmmo out there and just need anything to tide you over until a better one comes out like the addict you are. Although

Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!

Two complete jerks spend time together against one of their wills.
This phrase about sums up my experiences with the anime. Neither of the main characters are particularly likable. Uzaki doesn't know what the word 'consent' seems to mean, and constantly mocks and bullies the main male lead as he goes about his day. The male lead on the other hand, is just trying his hardest to not be in the story, and glowers at anything that comes near. Neither are particularly compelling. Swap the genders of the main characters around and there would be outrage around this anime. More so that just some tig ol ... Dec 18, 2015

If i could describe this in just two words: wasted potential.
the premise of the show is great, the art is on par with other anime for the most part, the sound and OST are great, but it falls flat almost immediately. The story is forced rather than being allowed to flow naturally, mostly caused by the one dimensional characters who react only to fit a trope, and are far from what you'd consider "human". Everything is designed to make the plot move forward without thinking about how much that detracts from the plot. Precisely zero of the characters would ever reasonably respond to the situations ... I'm sorry, but the endless 8 arc was too much. For those who haven't watched this, they essentially re-released the same episode 8 times with minute differences as part of a "time loop" arc. It was brutal to watch, and i ended up just skipping around it for the most part.
their were only two other "arcs", a mediocre 5 parter, based around haruhi and crew making a movie was the other big one. It really doesn't have much substance and can be condensed into a 2 parter easily. It does have some great moments, but overall i just couldn't get passed how dragged on it ... |
