Angel Beats! another masterpiece by key. I just finished the last episode, and as I'm writing this review I'm still crying from what happened.
Like Air, Kanon and Clannad (the other anime media based on a visual novel by Key) It has a deep psychological impact that questions about your own existence. In the end however, no matter how shallow that question is you'll still find happiness.
In the earlier episodes you will have the impression of a serious yet comedic anime. Throughout the whole show these aspects keep it all constant all the way through the end.
Story: Stated earlier, it's plot line has the same feel
...
with Air, Kanon and Clannad, BUT in a sense it doesn't. The plot line for this story is very original and will catch your attention right from the start.
Art: Simply amazing, although you could draw similarities from other show based on what it looks like, Nonetheless, the artwork and the CG graphics is amazing. This includes the animation as well, it almost mimics you motion and is very fluid. Much like Clannad
Sound: BGM music completely suits the actions during the course of the series. Even sound effects were superb. The music was simply amazing. The opening song My Angel Your Beats! completely suits the anime. It gives you this comfortable feeling that makes you ready to watch this show. The Ending song Brave song also helps you close out after watching the magnificent episode.
Character: I think this is what the strongest point of the show is. All I can tell you is that it has A LOT of character development and the character's itself, you'll find highly like able to the point of praising them . I'll refrain from giving examples as I don't want to spoil the entire show.
Enjoyment: Very enjoyable. As expected from Key
Overall: This is a must must must must watch anime. In fact the last anime that made such impact to me prior to this was Clannad. This anime will make you laugh cry and think. In my opinion this is the anime of the year and possibly can not be topped unless Key produces another masterpiece
