tl;dr: I had to increase all my previous 1/10's to a 2/10 as this show exist in a trash tier of its own. Do not watch sober, or find friends to laugh along with. I have not read the LN's or Manga.
Story 2/10: There are a couple shows out there which explore the premise of sisters and brothers being in or falling in love together. I find most of this genre to be underwhelming. However, compared to other shows in this genre, My Sister my Writer even fails to execute on this concept in a way which feels "good" (or taboo if you will).
...
In "Eromanga Sensei," "Oreimo," and even "Kiss x Sis," the attraction has some amount of buildup which, despite their familial relations, somehow feels logical and earned. The buildup to the sister's attraction towards the MC is largely nonexistent and is unearned. Meanwhile, the MC is one of the most frustrating for his level of incompetency. Plotwise, it is mildly engaging just for how ridiculous it is at times, but most of it is ridiculously contrived. Humor at least lands so long as you are under the influence.
Art 2/10: All the character designs are extremely off-putting and look unnatural. Only reason why I don't give it a 1/10 is because I have seen clips of Ex-Arm, and I realized that it could be worse.
Sound 3/10: Not memorable in any regard except for the sound which plays when there is about to be or currently is a sexually-charged interaction, usually between the MC and his sister. That sound does a fantastic job of triggering my fight or flight pathways, and if the sound were to be played to me with no context, I would likely develop goosebumps or pain in my spine.
Character 1/10: Every character in the show has a poor design and is uninteresting. Peace-sensei and Suzuka are funny in a deranged way, and Sakura at times feels like a parody of the show, but every other character in the show is extremely underdeveloped, frustrating, or boring. The show honestly has too many characters, but without adding more characters the conflict of whether Suzuka and the MC get together or not is harder to perpetuate. The problem is that each new character causes the rest aside from the MC and Suzuka to be more underdeveloped to a point where no one is a realistic alternative for the MC. Similar shows, (ex: "Eromanga Sensei) avoid this issue by having a much more limited cast of girls that the MC passes up on and often feel like good choices for the MC. Eromanga has 4-5 romantic interests of varying degree of development; this show has 6-8 romantic interests depending on where you draw the lines, and the show unfortunately cannot balance this many romantic interests in only 12 episodes.
Enjoyment 4/10: This entirely comes down to how much one can enjoy taboo shows with ranging levels of censored nudity. I watched this with a friend while under the influence, so it was significantly easier to enjoy and laugh at the show. The humor of the show is passable to where I don't think the experience is completely irredeemable so long as you are a regular dumpster diver. If you do not watch trash normally, turn around.
Overall 1/10: By basically any metric, this is one of the worst animes and is approaching children's shows in how sub-par it is. None of the romance feels particularly earned, the plot and premise is too contrived, the character design is off-putting and sometimes just bad, there are too many potential love-interests to the point where no one feels like a half-way decent alternative to the sister in terms of development, and is really only enjoyable in an ironic sense.
If you are a trash connoisseur, this show is inferior to similar shows of its genre and really only warrants a watch if you've seen everything else better or have a morbid curiosity for how low an anime can go.
