I went to see this anime during the Crunchyroll Presents Movie Night at my local theater without expecting much. I left the theater amazed at the beauty and magic held in three episodes. Waiting impatiently for the season to air, I read everything I could find of the manga.

Chise, in the anime, seems a bit like a character without a personality. To me, her personality is hidden behind a past of trama and tragedy. In the beginning of the series, she does not find herself valuable or loveable. She decides to sell herself in the magical market to ... find someone to give her a value and purpose. This anime is how Chise finds herself again and finds a life worth living.

I know a lot of people ship Chise and Elias, but right now, they are simply two individuals learning how to love and care for another, as well as themselves. There are some flaws in this relationship, but that doesn't make me love Elias and Chise as characters any less. I find these flaws give them human-like traits in a story so full of magic.

I am excited to see the dynamics between Chise and Elias continue to change, as they develop and grow in the anime.

***There will be minor spoilers in this review. If you would prefer not to know anything, just watch it. I mean, what have you got to lose? No.6 is short and unforgettable. Negative reviews come from plot problems and pace, but how rare is it to find an anime that is perfect? Just note that the manga does have a better ending.


After watching this anime, I fell so in love with the characters that I read both the light novel and the manga. While the anime version felt rushed at the end and the storyline was changed, I still think this anime ... is amazing. No.6 is not a perfect masterpiece, but it is a masterpiece.

The story is about a boy, Shion, living in a privileged community that has no crime, poverty, and is a so-called perfect world. He is utterly innocent and kind, very trusting. Nezumi, a boy who lost everything, is the exact opposite of Shion. Hard around the edges, untrusting, pessimistic, and full of a desire for revenge.

These two boys partake in an adventure to shut down this disastrous society after learning many secrets behind the truth of No.6. As they experience their journey, the two boys become close to each other. I found their relationship to be extremely moving and a longing from both characters for love and warmth. This creates an interesting dynamic between them as well as interesting character development. I really enjoyed the amazing contrasts and complexity of the relationship that occurs. At the end, it is plain as day that Shion believes the most important and most beautiful moments of his life are the ones he spent with his friend, eating Macbeth soup and reciting Shakespeare. Please watch this anime.

To start out, the artwork is amazing. I really enjoyed the complexities of color, the texture, and the oddness of the artwork. The music is fitting and enjoyable.

I thought the characters were great and well thought out. Although, for a main character, I did not find myself liking Yukari very much. I found her very childish throughout the series and even when she realizes this, she does not seem to change much.

Miwako was a very enjoyable character and I love her to pieces, but I did not enjoy her relationship with Arashi. ... I thought he was petty and cruel to her. She states in one part of the anime that Arashi seems scary, but he is actually super cute...and then he breaks her cell phone for emailing a friend who happens to be a male. Huh. I was really hoping she would end up with Tokumori, but...

...Yukari seems to be getting married to him at the end. x.x

I really didn't think her and George would be together forever, but I didn't like this ending at all. I did like that George left her all his dresses, but it seems as though that symbolizes that he had moved on and she clung to the past by wearing them. Kind of depressing.

Why do the women always seem to be the ones who get left behind?
Why did she have to marry anyone at the end?

Overall, it was a nice trip but I am not sure I enjoyed the conclusion. Seems to me that Tokumori will always love Miwako and Yukari will always love George, even though they might not be the best fit for each other. So heartbreaking, but maybe that was the point?

Shows like these make me feel like the author wants the audience to view the characters as "mature" and "adult" for not indulging themselves and letting go of petty romances, but it seems cliche to me.
