Love or to be loved... this could possibly be the shortest way to summarize Yesterday wo Utatte.
Though this is a central point of the series, there is much more to discover especially if you enjoy a slow burner about adulthood and our transformation as we come to grasp with it.
The cast is small, but the series does a good job of slowly building out the story up to it's conclusion. Being that it is only 12 episodes, the limited characters benefit from this and you do get to see development of the relationship between all of them.
I would recommend this to anyone with an interest
...
in slice-of-life, relationships and life problems, especially if you enjoy more serious ones.

Trauma from the past play a huge factor in the way we govern our lives in the future. Although there are ways to rehabilitate, more often than not we remain changed as a person and even more often we don't get the proper treatment or outright deny it.
From the producers that brought you Anohana, Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda feels like a one-shot that hits you right in the feels the same way it does with Anohana. We as an audience can draw from many of the experiences in our own life in all scales and magnitude to relate to Naruse Jun as she struggles to live
...
the adolescent years of her life when faced with traumatic experiences in her past.
While Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda follows a story of similar circumstance as Anohana, what really drives a story home is the use of good sound in combination of a natural and fluent devlopment of the plot. There was an excellent contrast of song and music with corresponding parts of the film and even if there was a lack of ambient sounds throughout the film, the core parts of the film came together very naturally with music and setting in harmony which is what I thought they did a spectacular job in. The characters don't seem to stand out excluding Naruse but it fits the school life setting so it could be argued that that was the atmosphere the producers wanted to achieve.
To conclude, this film ended up being quite enjoyable and is absolutely worth your time and your money if you are lucky enough to catch this in theaters.

Regardless of genre or theme, there has always been certain elements which accentuates a great anime from an average one and when you develop these core elements masterfully, you get a gem that outshines the other animes of its kind. Hibike! Euphonium is that gem and could easily be the best anime of Spring 2015 and maybe even best of 2015.
As it turns out, Hibike! Euphonium does in fact seem a little bland at first glance from the synopsis having being a school life story with an emphasis on music. Its been done- time and time again for example series such as K-ON!, Love Live!,
...
and Tari Tari. What will win you over however, is the depth of the main characters, the flow of the story, and the overall animation.
Hibike! Euphonium builds a wonderful story from the ground up with a solid foundation of characters which develop over the 13 episode series along with the main plot which unfolds just as nicely. Each episode has meaning and leaves you with more than enough to keep you hooked and wanting more. By the end of the season, Hibike! Euphonium does more in 13 episodes than many anime series can do in 24. In the event that Hibike! Euphonium does not have a second season, you are still left with some closure and it doesn't make you feel like you wasted your time.
All in all, whether you are a picky anime viewer or someone pondering on what series to watch in Spring 2015, Hibike! Euphonium will not be a disappointing choice.

When people want to watch more anime than they have time to do so, quite often their decisions are made moments after reading the synopsis because as many would say, "first impressions are everything".
Well I would like to start by saying that upon reading the synopsis, No Game No Life really did seem like a one dimensional erection stimulant but upon recommendation from a friend, I stumbled upon what must be the most impressive anime of spring 2014.
The story is about two genius shut-in's that end up living in a fantasy world (due to supernatural circumstances), but what they don't tell you is that
...
the real story unfolds about a few episodes into the series. Upon discovering the protagonists' goals, you are sucked right into the series as the development of the story as well as the characters leave you attached. The dialog in this anime is everything but terrible and the art is fantastic which really gives you something to look forward to even if you still think the synopsis is a bit sketchy (like what i initially thought).
Now for the characters. Unlike many anime where the protagonist have some overwhelming edge, NGNL gives you characters that as hard as it is to imagine, are basically just humans. They strive through their trials with the only thing humans have that other animals in real life lacked, higher level cognitive functions. All through the first season, this character restriction that the protagonists have stays consistent from the very first episode, up until the very last and if theres anything that should be appreciated in anime, it has to be consistency.
It goes without saying that when you have positive points of all aspects of an anime, it ends up being astonishing. Well let me say that NGNL is just that, and if there is only one anime you could pick up from spring 2014, I highly recommend NGNL because even having to leave my comfort zone for anime, there was not a single thing I could really criticize about NGNL that would make me drop it.

Judging a series by the length of the episodes can be quite difficult to refuse but looking past that, Shiba Inuko-san is a very entertaining series of VERY SHORT episodes that involve 3 characters. With plenty of funny moments in this series under the major constraint of having only roughly 90 seconds of actual content.
Considering the fact that you are only spending at most 2 regular episode lengths watching this, you are getting the bang for your buck. If you want a few chuckles, Shiba Inuko-san is a good place to start.

Concepts of time and time travel have always been a breeding ground for sci-fi stories and because this is a topic that we have barely come to grasp, it is here where creativity ends up shining the greatest. Now the story is based around a man's seemingly insane personality and his stumble upon a method to change the past and evidently, the future as well. Many things could have gone wrong in the process of writing this story but fortunately for all of us, it was well thought out and executed equally as well.
What you can expect from Steins;Gate is a strongly plot based series
...
building on top of everything that happens starting from episode 1. This means that if you have the time and undivided attention, and a mind that yearns for animes with great stories as well as twists that will keep you on your feet and blow your mind, then this is most certainly a series you have to watch.
But hold on there is more. On top of a well developed story, you get great development of all the characters throughout the series and elements of other genres that will certainly keep you enticed and begging for more.
In the end, what you get by the time this series is finished is the satisfaction of finishing a great show and when you watch as many animes as I do, the feeling gets harder and harder to come by.

The original creation of Shaft's mahou shoujo anime caught my interests when I first heard about it. Having not really been a avid Mahou Shoujo series fanatic, I was still very interested to see what it would be like.
For those of you who plan to watch(if not already) this series can be categorized as an anime that is full of twists and a well developed plot. The flow of the series is very smooth and at a certain point, will have you finding it hard to stop yourself from watching the next episode. Being completely opposite from an episodic series, this anime builds upon each
...
episode with more and more of the secrets of this magical world being revealed, and as a results keeps you in suspense, itching with antisipation for more and ultimately the next episode.
Overall this anime could easily rival the popularity of many other great hits such as Code Geass, but i guess the overall enjoyment of this anime could easily be influenced by the expectations everyone has for this anime(including myself).
This series is best watched with your mind clear of any expectations and left to be discovered by yourself 1 episode at a time.
As for how I feel about this series, I felt it was very well done and that Shaft's take on a mahou shoujo is very exciting and full of surprises that would keep you watching back-to-back especially when the episodes are now readily available from start to finish. Although I was reluctant at first, every single minute spent on this series was very well worth the time and is very deserving of your attention.

If you enjoy fast paced action packed anime's, then Deadman Wonderland is most certainly one of the top choices for Spring 2011.
The story revolves around a main character called Igarashi Ganta whose sudden encounter with the "Red Man" turns his life from a jolly average middle school life, into a hell hole called Deadman Wonderland where inmates put on a show for paying audiences.
Beyond the dark and frightening atmosphere is a fast developing action/horror anime packed with enough twists to keep you on your toes and desperate for more, as it is impossible to predict the turn of events as i tried to
...
do so myself. Each new twist draws you in deeper and deeper to the point where you crave for closure.
Audio and visuals for Deadman Wonderland are extremely effective in setting the right theme and environment for this anime. It gives off a eerie and dark aura easily putting you into the right mood for watching this type of anime. The characters are lacking a bit in development and hard to empathize with but with the series the way it is, there wouldn't be enough time even though it would be nice if there was more depth to each of the other characters.
Although short, Deadman Wonderland is more then enough to satisfy viewers including those who aren't too fond of the genre and is most definitely one of the more enticing series of spring 2011

Tragedies happen everywhere and if you have ever been struck by it then you know how it can change you as a person.
AnoHana is a story along the lines of such where a group of friends are forced to face the death Honma Meiko (Menma) and it takes places years after when they are all in high school.
By the end of the first episode, Menma and Yadomi Jintas' past have been explored and we get a slight idea of how the death of Menma changed the once energetic and cheerful Jinta into a shut in wrapped up in his own emotions.
The story so
...
far is compelling and immediately hooks you by the end of the first episode. The plot gets more and more in depth as each episode progresses which continues to draw you in and keep you interested. The room for interpretation makes the story much more enjoyable and does so leaving you with twists in further episodes and in doing so keeps you guessing and wanting more. Characters are dynamic and draws your desire to connect and understand them more which overall makes this a very moving and enjoyable anime.
For those of you interested in a well planned out drama, AnoHana is most certainly worth the time and does not look to disappoint in terms of the depth and as a result makes it one of the better series of spring 2011. Even with all the new releases this spring, AnoHana is sure to be a great series to watch whether you are into this type of genre or not.

For those who have seen the first season and felt that it had very little to do with the actual story and in fact was just a filler season. This sequel to that disappointing season happens to be much more enjoyable.
Reluctant at first, i decided to give this sequel a shot since i hadnt got what i wanted from the first season. Motto To LOVE-Ru follows chapters from the actual manga and brings to the table what the first season never did, entertainment. Even after the recycled gags and the archetypal characters, it reminds us why harem/comedy animes are quite popular. Funny characters getting
...
into awkward situations which we can all see coming like psychics but even if its not innovative its still something that will put a smile to your face.
For those of you who want to see more material from the manga in the anime, this season shouldnt disappoint. No more pulling out random episodes from thin air, these episodes take from material that actually existed in the manga and ends up being much more enjoyable and a much better adaptation of the manga even if the sequence of the anime is not following the manga in a linear fashion.
