So the manga Seiyuu-Ka! starts off with our main character, Kino Hime and her obsessive dream to become a world-class Seiyuu after a run in with her idol (Aoyama Sakura) as a small child. Her only problem is, she's utterly hopeless at any attempt of voice acting.
She then enrolled in Hiiragi Academy which is where we meet the main male of the story, Kudo Senri; the antisocial tsundere. There are also the two already-successful upperclassmen idols, Hime's mysteriously-driven manager, and the random people she meets along the way.
But more to the point of the story; although this is marked as a 'romantic comedy', the lack
...
of any romance at all annoys me.
Sure, they constantly hint at possible relationships and the topic is brought up a few times but there is almost NO romance other than the usual High School crushes and awkward interactions.
The overall art for this manga was really great, but every main male character seemed to have an issue with their only defining feature being their hairstyle. Being a shoujo manga, their clothes were overly accessorised, and the smallest of things had more detail than necessary.
Throughout the short and rushed story, other than Hime, there was little to no character development. I understand that it's supposed to be her story and everything, but many of the characters were simply thrown aside and given a small frame of their happy ending at the end of the manga.
The worst part for me though, was definitely the ending. It felt very abrupt, and as though the manga was cut off a lot shorter than the mangaka had originally intended. Without giving the whole thing away, let me just say it was pretty anti-climatic, and felt as though they tried very hard to squish it into a box and wrap it up with a pretty 'happy ending' bow.
Overall, the manga was very cute and I did enjoy it, it's just that there's so much more that could've been done, and with how abruptly it ended I just couldn't give it the 10 I wish I could.
