Yakedo Shoujo (Manga) add
Initially, I thought this manga would be a philosophical one, where I could expect to see nihilistic tendencies of these teens and incidents in their life that brought them about.
But gradually it became very clear that it was crude and straight out gross. The main character is bland, pretentious and doesn't have any appeal whatsoever.
The author needs to understand that being obsessed over death and having masochistic/sadistic tendencies are two different things. That, the formula to a dark themed story isn't just pointless violence, sex and grotesque corpses.
The author could have used philosophy as a tool to bring out the emotions that he wanted ...

Made in Abyss (Anime) add
This anime is truly a masterpiece. I can't begin to describe the number of emotions it touches, there are times when you will find tears trickling down your cheeks before you know it. The idea of going into the cryptic abyss, a journey from which you can never return, in itself holds scope for so many emotions and the series does a great job at bringing them out. And believe me, this is one of those series which can be enjoyed by anyone, even those who conform to very specific genres. The story was so intriguing that you just can't stop watching as the mystery ...

The story is about Seiya Kanie, a smart and narcissistic high school student as he tries to bring back life to the Amagi Brilliant Park - an amusement park which is on the brink of shutting down.

The plot is quite weak, yet the comedy, characters and cute girls in the show make up for it. Don't expect the involvement of a whole lot of magic in the show as it is used just for the basic construction of the plot, the anime makes it look obvious that the plot was not much of a concern to the writer than the character developments and comedy.

It is ...

Mixed Feelings
Honestly, never have I ever been this pissed off at an anime. Seriously, just how many fillers can you put in a 26-episode anime! The fact would have been excused if the series had a proper ending, but never mind. They had to reset everything again in the last episode and then fuck with us in the 2-episode OVA.

Seriously, if you have just completed season 1, I will say it now, this anime doesn't have a clear ending, not even in the manga. There's a manga 'School Rumble Z' but there's a controversy if it really is the continuation, but it has an ending.

Even after ...

Kakegurui (Anime) add
Kakegurui is a psychological anime about a compulsive gambler, Jabami Yumeko. She transfers to a school where one's social status is decided by gambling. The story progresses as everyone comes to know that the girl isn't sane and that it's not the money she's after, but the ecstasy in putting everything on the line.

The parts where players put even their lives on the line felt exaggerated and they should have thought of better ways to raise the intensity of the matches.
The matches became more and more interesting as the story progressed.

I would say, the series is mediocre where the story is concerned but it will ...

Overlord (Anime) add
Before I begin, this review isn't strictly for the first season of Overlord.

After Momonga spends his last hour in the virtual reality game, Yggdrashil, which was about to be shut down, he finds himself actually inside another world with the same avatar and powers with which he used to play. Thus begins the journey of the overpowered Momonga aka Ains Ool Gown towards world domination.

In the first few episodes, the development was slow which gave the impression that this show was going to be just another cliche with an overpowered character in an isekai. But it was much more than that. It had a ...

Btooom! (Anime) add
Sakamoto, Japan's best player, of an online game Btooom! is a shut-in NEET and one day finds himself on a stranded island with a chip embedded on his hand and a bag full of timer-bombs. He later finds that there are people besides him on the island with whom he has to compete in a survival game, which is a real-life simulation of Btooom!.

This show really managed to get me hooked, there was never an episode that didn't leave me wondering about the next. If we were to turn a blind eye to the actual process by which they were brought to the island and ...

The story is about the shut-in siblings Sora and Shiro, a gamer duo, who are summoned to a world by the God of Games, Tet. This world, unlike their world, governed by games. Everything is decided by games and a set of rules which were to be strictly followed. Thus starts their journey in the land of their dreams.

Personally, I found Sora to be the most entertaining character in the anime, be it comedy or intensity, he played it out the best. On the other hand, the brother-sister drama was way too mawkish. In some parts, even obnoxious.

Incidents that occurred in the game of chess ...

Shinichi, a former hikikomori and an otaku after applying for a job finds himself in a land which is the dream of every otaku. Coming straight to the point, he is appointed to use his knowledge as an otaku to strengthen bonds between Japan and the new country by promoting otaku culture.
I'd recommend you to back off if you're here for the plot because it has a rather weak one. Anyway, the anime is oriented towards watchers who wanted a bit slice-of-life with a plot just to kill boredom. It clearly has parody in its genre, so there's nothing more to say.
About the characters, they ...

The story focuses on the journey of quintuplet girls who are academically weak and their class topper as he tries to tutor them so as to fulfill his financial needs. The story proceeds further as all the girls fall in love with him subsequently.
The plot lacks proper character development, examples being Yotsuba and Nino.
Almost every episode until the end has Nino opposing the idea of Futaro being their tutor. It took only the second-last episode to turn the feelings around.
On the other hand, Yotsuba is shown as a typical cheerful girl in the whole anime and there being no specific incident between Futaro and her ...
