This season is definitely lacking compared to the first. At this point, the title is misleading. There is neither happiness nor marriage in this season either. :|
And it's even more grim than before with the constant danger and scheming.
Before anything else, this is like the SLOWEST BURN in terms of *everything*.
We're halfway through the season, and Miyo is STILL yet to get a good character development. She is still the typical "good anime girl" who stutters and whines and accepts all the humiliation from everyone, and to be very honest, the places where she "stood up for herself" was really weak to be considered as
...
a stand up or progress. It's almost like everyone is trying to keep Miyo happy for some odd reason, especially when they constantly praise her for those literal no effort retorts of her.
I am so sick of *almost every new side character* taking turns in bullying her, only to come to realization that she is the Buddha reincarnation (jk) and she is actually such a nice girl and they suck as a person so they are oh so sorry for being a d*ck prior.
When will she ever grow up as a character? It's great that she doesn't change overnight but c'mon, 2nd season is about to end. :|
Their romance is lovely but it progresses in SUCH a slow manner that they are still yet to learn the first thing about each other. On the 7th ep, Kiyoka asked what she thinks of him and I expected her to finally have *something* to say and confess her feelings but, nope. She still stuttered, made whiny noises and let him go.
They feel so disconnected at times that they feel like two strangers. And it's not good, because -again- this is the 2nd season, you would expect them to be much closer now.
Most of us watch this anime for its romance aspect, and given the whole aesthetic of the anime, that's what you expect. (?)
When there is fluff, it's sweet, but we're literally in 2nd season and they are nowhere near getting married or close enough to each other or had a serious romantic scene other than the two kisses.
I started watching this anime thinking we'll concentrate on their love (given the name, premise, and visuals), and there will be historical drama alongside, only for it to turn out exactly the opposite, romance feels optional at this point lol.
On the bright side, visuals are so lovely, everything looks so pretty and animations are good enough. It's already not a life-changing anime but I believe they could have done better this season. I sometimes genuinely speed up the military talks, because it gets really boring. I am not giving many details to not spoil but all the side characters we met were also pretty dull.
Will update this review, when the anime ends.

I wasn't going to leave a review but after seeing that 8.27 score that's given to this anime I had to.
This anime is the most mid, most stupid, most "ughhh I'm an alpha male and if I get into a 5 month training arc, I'll be the next Goku" ahh thing that I've ever seen. I picked it up to have something on the background that rolls while I eat, (no lie, this anime can only be watched like that and I guess directors also had that idea) and even THEN, I couldn't bear it.
You really need to be someone who goes off
...
to good animation and colorful stuff, which signifies nothing actually recently since almost all the modern anime has amazing animations. This is a type of an anime where you put on your second monitor while you play a game on your main screen. And even then, it tires you out so much.
Characters suck, I felt nothing for no one. I remember no one's name. I remember bits and pieces of their tearjerker stories and that's all. Animation is the only best thing about this anime. Music is alright, not necessarily makes you violently pleasure yourself. Story had an interesting premise, I was hooked to see what could happen if our life was actually a game you know?
It turns out to be your classic shounen with nothing interesting at all, all the cliché tropes are here, MC gets more and more unbearable as he gains powers. MC becomes a "sigma, alpha, I rule all betas", Andrew Tate listener.
I have no respect whatsoever to someone who says they GENUINELY enjoyed this anime and it made an impact on their lives. Don't get me wrong, not all animes have to be crazy impactful, life changing works of art. But this anime aspires to be that and it SUCKS at it so HARD.

This anime can only be watched and enjoyed somehow only if you like the characters. The art style looks really pretty in my opinion. Apart from that, there is almost no storyline, things are just happening and getting resolved as quickly as it gets heated by Koko's intelligence (?) though I liked Koko, the characters are nice but you never actually get too attached to them, for example, if one of them died, I would not be crying rivers, my maximum reaction would be getting surprised and going on with my day.
They slapped in some tropes, -no panties, lesbian couples, big boobs, muscle mommy,
...
a girl who acts bubbly but actually is hurt, and so on- to make it look more appealing but this anime feels like an empty gift box with fancy, shiny wrappings.
I genuinely wanted to give it a chance and waited for it to get better somehow but it's just okay. The very positive reviews I read here made me feel so puzzled after seeing it for myself. There are some reviews here that talk about in detail why this anime is so empty etc so I'll keep this short.
