First things first, 91 Days is pretty amazing. It's basically a mafia version of Game of Thrones in anime format.
Story:
The show tells a mature and dark mafia story about revenge and boy does it tell it good. We have this quite common revenge plot from the Hollywood movies where the main character goes into the path of revenge because of the murder of his loved ones.
The interesting aspect comes from its story telling; it is cunning, subtle and everything has a meaning from the conversations to the actions and subtle details that this shows has to offer. Nothing is meaningless.
It is done well
...
drama when the characters' relationships will make you want to end up crying in the corner.
Animation and the quality:
There really isn't much to say about the animation department. The close up scenes look amazing, and while there is noticeable quality drop towards the end during three episodes (probably because of the budgeting) it could easily be forgiven for the story's sake. The scenes' importance shows in the animation when it matters even in low budget, so even in those three low budget episodes, when something matters and is really important the quality skyrockets once again.
Sub and Dub version:
Both sub and dub are great but there is a slight difference in characters' personality when comparing the versions. In Japanese version there is blank main character, goofy sidekick, and crazy villain but in English version every character seems more stable and mature, but somehow the relationship aspect's been left a little bit blank.
Notice:
This show might be best to watch more than once. First time ends up trying to figure out character relations and what impact they have with the story.
For drama lovers:
If you're here to watch some exciting action anime that explains you all the time what is happening, this isn't the kind of show for you. But if you're up to some smart story telling and having an emotional rollercoaster this is kind of show to you. This show will rip your heart out from your chest, crushes it violently to the ground, picks it up and gives it a kiss before putting it back to your chest.
Truly a magnificent show and amazing ride. I recommend this wholeheartedly to everyone who wants to see exciting drama about revenge and bonds.
