A deeply confusing and far-out anime that I can't even say I completely understand having finished it. I know that I liked it, and that each episode had me completely gripped and wanting to watch the next. A great show for anybody who likes psychological and confusing anime. I can't say that I'm entirely sure what it means, but it was impactful for me. I feel this show benefits greatly from forming your own conclusions about it and not trying to focus on whats "really" going on or what the correct interpretation of it is. Gaining your own perspective on its merit by watching is ...

By FAR the best way to experience this series, neither anime holds a candle to it. People say that this and Brotherhood are basically the same, but I just have to completely disagree. The pacing in the manga is downright perfect, never going too fast or too slow, spending just enough time on each point to give it punch, before seamlessly moving on to the next. They get compared a lot, so I'll come out and say it, between Utena and Eva, this is the better show. Though, of course, I'm very biased being a superfan and all. It is truly a one of a kind show that uses the genres tropes itself as part of its storytelling. Often touted as a negative, the ...

By and large this version is on the same level or even surpasses its manga counterpart. The grittier sections of the manga are all handled beautifully and are made much more impactful through excellent direction. The homonculi are all well fleshed out and incredibly interesting characters, and I much prefer Alphonse's dub voice actor in this version to Brotherhood's. But. The ending. The last few episodes are just so bad that it drags the rest of the series down. Robot cyborg man out of no where. Real life 1900s London. It just doesn't stop. It feels like they just dropped the ball out of no ...
