Boruto is a downright bad anime.
Now, let me preface this by saying:
- Yes I did watch over 200 episodes even though I disliked every minute of it.
- I was incredibly bored and I missed Naruto so much I needed to see any glimpses of him.
INTRODUCTION
Naruto did have its own flaws, we all know this, specially if you were watching it while the episodes were coming out weekly. We had a lot of fillers, the talk no jutsu was at times ridiculous, sometimes episodes were just rehashing of old episodes/flashbacks (specially during The Fourth Ninja War), and Kishimoto really had trouble writing young female characters. So
...
yes, I don’t pretend that Naruto was a masterpiece without any flaws which Boruto could never compare to.
But Naruto was an anime with all those flaws that still managed to tell a very engaging story with lovable and unique characters and memorable moments that will stay for the rest of our lives. It was an experience that carries so many fond memories for the watcher, while I cannot say the same thing for Boruto.
That’s why when you ask me to tell you my favorite moment of the first 200 episode of Naruto, I would have trouble deciding on only one, but when you ask me about Boruto, I have trouble coming up with a single one. Sure, there were some moments when the show was -good-, but there aren’t any where I thought it was excellent, where I know for a fact I will remember the moment till the day I die. And that is the problem with Boruto.
CHARACTERS
Boruto as a character is just mediocre, he could be better if writers decided for him to actually grow and not just fake it. What do I mean by that: In many of the filler episodes, we are shown Boruto and his negative character trait of the day, which he must confront and change by the end of the episode/mini arc. Thing is, by the time we are done with that and move on to the next flaw, Boruto forgets his learning experience as if it never happened and commits the same mistake, thus rendering his growth as null. It is very infuriating watching the character commit the same mistakes he had learned from previously, but well, changing that would need decent character writing and we don’t have that here.
The rest of the cast can be divided into “Boruto’s friends” and “Old cast”. “Boruto’s friends” consists of some likeable characters (and other mediocre). All in all, the friends are okay, just side characters being side characters with the occasional episode to flesh them out a little, or at least to fill as many episodes as we need to keep the manga ahead. They aren’t anything special, even though I do like Shikadai a lot (but maybe that’s because he’s a copy of his dad). Also, their bonds don’t feel deep, more so when compared to the intricate relationships we had in Naruto: Naruto & Sasuke’s rivalry-turned-begrudgingly-into-something-like-family, Sakura & Ino - friendship-turned-rivalry-turned-friendship, Naruto & Gaara wtf-into-BFFS etc.
As for the “Old cast”, I’m not mad about them. Their story is done which makes sense as to why they mostly take a backseat in this show (except for maybe Naruto and Sasuke). Seeing their interactions with their kids brings me so much joy.
ART
Really suffers at times, but all in all, nothing amazing. Serious moments that should be emotional lack feeling as the art doesn't convey much. I hate that I keep comparing it to Naruto, but Boruto is facing villains so much more dangerous than Naurto ever did as a kid, and I cannot even get half invested because the art is the same as it would be if the kids were training. The colors are all vibrant which makes the mood not somber or serious at all. And the emotional moments are equally as vibrant… does the show not have an Art Director?
MUSIC
Tries to copy the original Naruto appeal, but isn’t really memorable. It cannot add any feelings which add to the monotonous feeling of the show.
STORY
As mentioned aove, it really isn’t all that good. I do appreciate that they are trying to delve into the Otsutsuki storyline and explain their situation as what happened in Naruto and Naruto: The Last was a mess.
But I hope they get their shit together and look at what made Naruto great: Not the fight scenes, but the meaning behind the fights, the emotional tension throughout the show, the faraway and almost impossible goal to bring back that lost friend (Sasuke), the characters themselves. For now, Boruto doesn’t even have a real goal, he just wants to be a -cool shinobi- and learn about Karma (because finally something is moving the story forward).
OVERALL
I’m just watching this for Naruto lol, please stop nerfing him, it makes the anime all the more ridiculous.

I just read chapter 34 today and I'm here hoping that wasn't the last chapter, 'cause if not WOW what a shitty and rushed ending it has, thought it fits the plot that is as bad, let me explain what I mean
EDIT: Apparently the raws go up to chapter 105 *sighs in relief*
Story: 3. So you see, long story short, Girl A and Boy A see Girl A's boyfriend (Boy B) kissing with Boy A's girlfriend (Girl B). So instead of confronting them, like a normal and sane person would do, they decide that pretending to be lovers and making Boy B and Girl B
...
jealous would be a great way to repay them. WRONG. That is just wrong, so kids, don't do it.
But everything wouldn't be so bad if they had sticked with their plan, which they did not. They were actually afraid Boy B and Girl B would see them together, so they only went out in secret, which totally defeated the point of our plot. But whatever mangaka, just do whatever you want, it's not like the story has to make sense.
Art: 9. The art is the only thing that saved your ass mangaka. The ass is beautifully done, and it's kinda different from the typical shoujo, but not that much, which makes it fresh and pleasing for the eye. Of course, you can only enjoy that for about 30 seconds, as each chapter only has 5 pages. YUP, 5 pages for a weekly magazine. Wth.
Character: 3. Oh god, I don't think I have ever hated an mc so much. She's an annoying and indecisive girl who is insecure about everything. She goes on and on about her trust and love for Boy B but then can hardly talk to him or even look at him in the eye. And then Boy A, crushed by the fact that her girlfriend cheated on him, but then not breaking up with her or talk to her about it, just ignoring her and going straight into more trouble.
Enjoyment: 3. I wanted to drop the manga so many times, but the intrigue of wanting to know how it ends kept me going. I ended up hating 3 out of the 4 characters that existed. I don't even know why I read the manga, the ending was totally rushed, I mean, I just noticed it ended cause MAL says it only has 34 chapters. If I hadn't notice that, I would be just another of the many fools waiting for another chapter to see how the manga ends. BUT NOPE. It ended alright. With a random and infuriating ending. So did I enjoy the manga? Was is worthwhile? NO
My recommendation to you guys? Don't even bother reading the first chapter. Seriously, don't. Spare yourself of all the trouble and anger you will feel if you read this.

So yeah, the anime is pretty short, 3 episodes, 1 minute each, so it's hard to imagine someone making a story with an introduction, plot and ending in such a short time. But Sugar Soldier was able to do so. It was a cute, little story about a guy and a girl liking each other, and it was pretty good, though I would have liked it to be longer. The art was beautiful, I liked really much how the characters were drawn and the use of soft colors.
So, in overall, if you want to see a cutsie, little romance anime, then you should watch this one
...
'cause it will make you feel all warm and fluffy on the inside :)
Though I have to emphasize it was way too short.

✵WARNING THIS REVIEW IS KINDA SPOILERISH SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK✵
✵YOU'VE BEEN WARNED✵
I can't express how much this second season let me down, I was really looking forward to it but all that it was, was the first season shortened and allot more boring. I swear, in every episode I was like ¨When is this gonna end?¨ and the anime was like ¨Never! I will haunt you forever!¨
Story 5: Why a 5? Because this season was almost like the 1st one, I don't even know why they called it a second season, they could happily shorten it a
...
bit and make it part of the 1st one. In the second season Kazehaya is still in love with Sawako -surprise- but doesn't know how to tell her his feelings for her, the same goes for Sawako that discovered in the end of the 1st season she ACTUALLY loved Kazehaya -no shit- but is too shy to go and tell him that. So that's why all the second season revolves about them trying but failing miserably to tell the other how they feel, there were actually three confessions; The first 2 being epic fails making them grow apart and feeling awkward and insecure around each other, and the third one-FINALLY- being successful which leads them to start dating. But it's incredible because every little confusion and tear could have been avoided if Sawako wasn't that dumb for godamn sake, she herself starts overthinking evrey little word and expression that leads her to believe he can't stand her or he finds her annoying-even after all the time they spent together she actually believed that- or he likes someone else-wow! How unique! Didn't see that coming, did ya?. But the last thing is what I want to talk about next, because she didn't thought that up herself, she had actual help...OF A GUY!
Let's talk about this guy for a sec, his name is Kento Miura, and holy mother of god if he isn't hot. Kento -Ken for short- was a new classmate of Sawako, because as they passed to 2nd year all the classes were mixed -but surprise, surprise,Sawako stayed with all her friends, even Joe was there- so she ended up with him sitting next to her in class. Well, long story short, he came to like, in the romantic way, and that, of course, made Kazehaya jelous. And gee if that wasn't new, I mean, didn't something similar happened with Ryuu in the 1st season? Is like all the producers of the anime got together and said ¨Let's think of all the things that happened in season 1 change it a little and put it in season 2! I mean, kids this days are so stupid they won't even notice!¨Well, I noticed, I noticed!!
And now you are wondering what happened with that guy...Nothing. He just became a friend. That's it. After making Sawako believe the guy she loved liked someone else, he just said ¨Ha, YOLO¨and became her friend. NO! NO NO NO! I WANTED TO SEE SOME CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! NOT SOME THING THEY DECIDED TO PUT IN THERE FOR THE SEASON TO BE LONGER! ARGH!
This precious second season, that I was looking forward with all my heart, was just some giant, disappointing, ball of shit. Oh, but in the end everything turns out well, and Sawako and Kazehaya end together like a happy couple, but by the time you get there you already smashed your computer screen with a hammer 3 times.
So that's all I wanted to say, that if the producers intended for them to end happily ever after, they could just make 3 episodes, put it in the 1st season and VOILA, perfect ending, me smiling, and computer screen not crushed to a million pieces. Ahhh, feels good to take all of that out of my chest. Well's that's all, I guess.

Just 6 episodes of around 3 minutes each that show allot of tits, that's all you can expect about this specials, they were not even funny. Kinda disappointed after watching them, as I loved Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou I expected much more from the specials, they didn't even continue the story, they were there to give guys a boner for watching anime girls with huge tits get naked.
Really disappointing.

Gotta say that I was surprised of this OVA episode, being the anime not that good I expected this to be even worse. But, I was wrong. The story wasn't that original: people swapping their body by accident is nothing new, but I couldn't stop laughing my ass off when I saw what each of the characters did in the others body. Imagine this: Debito in Luca´s body and Luca in Debito´s, funny huh? Because their personalities are so different that I found everything that they did strange and at the same time hilarious. And then there was Nova in Liberta´s body
...
and vice-versa, and Pace in Dante´s. This episode is worth watching.
The thing that surprised me the most about this OVA episode, is that in the end the characters did learn something about the other´s person life, like how Nova discovered that children admire Liberta and how everybody is always smiling around him. And Liberta learned that people respect and care for Nova because he is like the hero of the town, always defending the citizens and fighting the “bad guys”.
So in overall, I think if you watched the anime and didn't like it that much you should watch this OVA episode because it will take away that bitter taste of the anime. And if you did like Arcana Famiglia you are in luck because it will make you laugh so hard you´ll literally cry.

*WARNING**DON’T LET THE FIRST EPISODE FOOL YOU, THIS ANIME IS ACTUALLY GREAT*
I absolutely LOVED this anime. At first I thought it would be like every anime where the girl loves the boy but they aren’t a couple until the very end, but that didn’t happen. The story revolves around them as a couple and the conflicts of life that they had to deal with.
The characters were well developed, some with a tragic backstory and all. You could see who they evolved during the serie, they didn’t stay the same, which made the anime intriguing and something you wanted to see. and problems kept appearing one
...
after the other, and it was like I couldn’t get enough.
There were moments in which I laughed, moments where I cried, moments wHere I couldn’t stop cursing one of the characters or yelling at the screen. This anie is worth watching because it’s not one of the common romance anime, it had a good story with drama and all, and although I don’t like open endings, this one was just right. So I’m telling you to watch this anime because you’ll love it.

First, I must ask you to bear with me because this is my first time writting a review, so Im kind of a reviews-virgin. Ok, now that thats settled I can start.
The first thing I noticed of this anime was the art, how beautifully the characters were created, and thats no small thing, because -and I know this is wrong- but I mostly judge a book by its cover, and the same goes for animes, the first thing I do is to look at the characters and see if I like how they look or not, its kind of shallow, but well, lets continue.
This anime
...
has 26 episodes, the first two are centered in one character, the second two in another, the third two in another and so on, so the thing that bothered me more about this anime was there was no real plot in it. Sure, there were characters who went through terrible stuff and all, but that was like an accessory because the story revolves about how a bunch of guys all fall for the same girl. And sure, that is cute. In fact, I love reverse harem, but in Starry☆Sky there was almost none of it. It was like a reaaaally long prologue that explained how the guys got to fall in love with her, all of them in their unique way. But then theres no story, theres no romance, theres no one that tells her how he feels or how she saved them or whatever. I mean, theres no real PLOT. There are these 26 episodes in where you keep wondering when the real stuff is going to happen, when the twist of the story is going to take place. I mean, the only episode that had me crying was the last one because of the graduation an all.
And then you wonder, then why the hell did you gave this anime and 8? Well, because I loved each and every character, because they were developed so well and because I understood them. Because sometimes they had me laughing and sometimes crying and sometimes just feeling compassion for them. That is the only reason I gave Starry☆Sky an 8, because of the characters, no for the story, but because of them. I think if you are going to watch this anime, you should do it when you are bored or taking a break from intense anime, thats all.
