I am a big fan of the original series (1997-98). Naturally, I was expecting a lot from this one. When you are a fan of the original, you should however be ready to get something different and still be fair: this is not the same anime, and the codes have changed since 20 years ago. So let's be fair.
After 6 episodes, here is what I can tell: the characters are here to become the cosmo-beauty, they have their own issues to deal with, some which conflict with each other. That is OK, we find that everywhere, including the original series. Yet, I cannot say much

more about the plot: the characters are overly simplistic, their issues are so common I have hoped to find something interesting in their conflicts, but I didn't. After 6 episodes, I see no growth at all. Some characters have changed opinions, but as easily as one can change shoes, so nothing memorable. And half a season of sports anime with no evolution is a big toll on me, especially when I find nothing else to be interesting.
The studio is versed in the Hentai genre? Cool, I love it! But this series does not build on that at all. So even their strength cannot be shown here. Only their weaknesses: cheap story, cheap art, ...
I wanted to drop the series after 2 episodes. And this is rare! I have 1938 completed for 117 dropped (5.7%), and most of the dropped ones are recap episodes that I systematically drop anyway. Actual series that I have dropped after trying it are probably less than 10, far less than 1% of the total. When I drop something willingly, it is really because I just cannot consider the series more than a waste of time. And this one was there after 2 episodes! The original series pushed me to go further, to give it a chance, but to no avail.
A fan of the original series will probably, like me, despise the restart.
A new comer will probably find far more interest in any other anime of the season.
And if (s)he likes the genre, a lot of series can do the trick far better than this one.
