Hi.

Watching this season
Takes I Stand By:
1. Good stories always have good characters, but good characters aren't exclusive to good stories.
2. I find it naive to look for extraneous plot holes because anime is an art, not a hard science.
3. Poor and/or absurd writing has the potential to be counter-balanced by the concept of the story in question.
4. "Animation and sound are not accessories to anime but a necessity to dazzle your senses and steal the show away from all the dumb shit happening."
5. Execution supersedes originality.
6. Evaluating films using the same criteria used for shows is illogical.
Currently Indulging In:
- Reading: Shadow Slave Vol. 6
- Playing: STEINS;GATE
- Watching: Dexter

I do carry this idea with me that the current system for these big projects doesn't allow them enough time or chapters to have a proper ending. Thinking of MHA and JJK (because I did read those all the way through and they have enough hype like OnK), huge mega projects with so many things like merch, anime, crossovers, blah blah, and their ending? Controversial and the common complaint was "rushed" or "disappointing." Something's wrong with the system such that the author is not allowed to develop their entirety of the story. You can't just "oh hey finish this in 15 chapters" out of a story that at one point the authors really cared about, it's difficult and could lead to these widely controversial endings because the authors wrote themselves a pathway and then the hammer comes down. I don't know if the editor is to blame, the publisher, the author, it's hard to pin down. But I digress, I agree with "did the best with what they got." Props to Akasaka for following up Love is War with Oshi no Ko, what a banger back to back.
When I sit to think about series that are completely ruined because of an ending, it's really hard to think of one outside of something like maybe Usagi Drop, or Game of Thrones TV show, but even then, the first halves of those series are still somewhat worthwhile. I don't know, I can't agree with the sentiment of ruin, but I can most definitely identify "oh hey the quality is not as high as where we were," I'm not that delulu.
Yeah major props to Yokoyari, that art is iconic and quite vivid from the slips into insanity on character's faces, to the cliffhangers, to the double page spreads, I'm looking forward to the upcoming one-shot she makes in february.
No worries on the long reply, I love a good yap sesh <3 I wonder how the anime may be affected by such an ending, only time will tell, I guess!
I do miss Han Sooyoung tho, everytime she appears for a short period of time I get excited
Just started the 1863rd regression
Bihyung confranting the Wenny man, and Yoo Joonghyuk saving Biyoo.
The reniuon.
THE LIBRARY—honestly, this part was so interesting, concerning, and mysterious. Nirvana and the Outer God's appearance was also unexpected, and I have a feeling I know who the author is, and if that is true, holy sh*t.
Yoo Joonghyuk refusing to regress.
Han Myungoh saving and holding Asmodeus.
URIEL APPEARING: This was one of the hypest moments of the novel so far; it felt like I could see her descend from heaven.
the end of the fighting and Surya's final dialogue with Kim Dokja.
And finally, ◻️◻️
I can tell something huge is about to go down very, very soon.
Overall, an absolutely fantastic arc.
So even though I've heard from many readers that there are even better arcs ahead in ORV, I'm sure it won't affect my enjoyment when I get to those parts. I'm really enjoying every bit of the story right now and just want to keep reading more. I'm not going into it thinking, "I can't wait to reach X arc because it's the best" or anything like that.
Speaking of which, when I started Fata Morgana, everyone kept saying that Doors 5-8 are the best. And while I was looking forward to them, I still allowed myself to enjoy every moment without expecting anything in specific.
Anyways, thank you for the response!
Just curious, In your opinion, how many of the arcs I still haven't read are better than the 73 Demon Realm Arc?
Well, I'm acatully reading ORV rn, I just finished the Asmodeus part.
When I found out that the 73rd Demon Realm Arc wasn't one of the more popular parts of the story I was shocked but at the same time excited to see what's waiting ahead of me.
I also really liked the Dark Castle, Fifth Scenario and the Constellation Banquet arcs.
I can't say the same about minu though, I like him a lot so far and hopefully he gets explored more too 😅
I would have preferred jay and mia over shelly but it's fine.
DDLC was your first VN too? That was unexpected, people mostly say they got into VNs through romance VN. I also plan to read steins gate because I heard great things about anime and VN but they say VN is still better 'cause it's the original material through which the world of steins;gate got presented.
Actually, Umineko is was my second visual novel that I finished, My first one was DDLC, Doki Doki literature club. DDLC was pretty depressing ngl. Well, The house in Fata morgana should be my third VN ig
