Kiznaiver is about a group of students literally sharing their pain. Let me make it clear that these are DIFFERENT shows, there are no big robots in Kiznaiver, no real overarching ultimate enemy, no Zero-Two... What draws them together in my humble opinion is the PLIGHT, the friendship, the joy, the ultimate sameness and human understanding. They both tell a good story of young'uns lost in a world of secrets, standing together. There are plenty of fun moments, and plenty of emotional ones - plenty of exciting characters, diverse and relatable in their own ways - there's romance, action, angst, meaning! I recommend Kiznaiver to a lot of people, but if you liked Darling in the FranXX as a rollercoaster, you'll like Kiznaiver too.

Juuni Taisen

This is another death game show, zodiac-styles! It's not as completely wild plot-wise as Future Diary, it also has lesser sexual themes - but it is still QUITE interesting, dark, and gory. The stories it tells within are doozies and might make you go like this: 👁️👄👁️ Juuni Taisen is not a romance, not really much of a mystery, and there is no placeable yandere, exactly... but it is a RIDE to behold, and honestly I think it's pretty underrated. Everyone is pretty intense in it, it's both fun and sad! 👍 I enjoy the character designs especially.

Asobi Asobase

This is another amazing "girls being girls" silly school anime series. It's one of the funniest shows i've ever seen, and it's a lot sillier than Azumanga if you can believe it. Asobi Asobase has that chaotic vibe, but dials up the randomness in short-story clubroom form. It's a fun, casual watch. You'll probably recognize some scenes if you're a fan of silly gifsets.

This entire series is also on youtube, so huge plus there for YT users. "Strawberry Marshmallow" feels like a spiritual little sibling of Azumanga. Extremely memeable, so funny, super adorable. If you laughed a lot at Azumanga Daioh, think about giving these girls a shot too. 👍

Wonder Egg Priority

Wonder Egg Priority is more forward in it's darkness than Madoka is - and I have to admit it certainly is not as revolutionary as Madoka is... If you were once a young girl with all your flaws and you really relate to the girls in PMMM specifically because they ARE living in that world of girlhood, Wonder Egg just might resonate with you pretty deeply. Just like Madoka, it hits you with something special in the plot - and not to spoil anything but you'll find that the girlhood displayed in Wonder Egg is a lot more realistically joyful, despite all the bad stuff going on. Worth a watch for magical girl fans, definitely (and not just the overtly girly ones!) also worth a watch for people out there that "don't really get" us girls - you might learn something!

This recommendation might seem strange aside from the whole singing part... but I couldn't stop thinking back to Zombieland Saga as I was watching Ya Boy Kongming! It's more historical (obvs), but the vibes are pretty darn similar. Both extremely funny and strangely heartwarming TV shows with that'll make you giggle and cheer.

It's a beautiful magical girl anime. If you like those, then you'll like Flip Flappers. It's not as dark as Madoka, but it has it's elements. The main girls have a wonderful friendship (psssssssst, ""friendship"" 👀) ... AND it's a major feast for the eyes. I'm half recommending it just for the artwork and animation.
