ARE YOU KIDDING ME BANG DREAM!?
THIS IS PEAAAAAAAAAAAKKK!!!!!
HOLY ***************************************TTTTT!!!!
ALL THE LIVE SHOWS IN THE ANIME IS EITHER BREATH TAKING, OR MESMERIZING
I FINALLY FINISHED ALL THE EPISODE AND IT LEAVES ME WANTING EVEN MORE!
Direction:
I love the departure of vibe and mood from the usually bright and cheerful previous generation of Bandori, MyGO has much more serious and realistic feel to it. When the characters get angry, they get really angry, and when things about to get ugly, they also let it get much uglier and not resolve it right away. Every episode feels so short because of how intense it is, dare i say this anime
...
rivals BECK from back then? Perhaps!
It's also paced much better, and slower than the previous generation, which are great! conflict escalates for more than 3 episodes, characters not getting buddy-buddy after 1-2 episodes of interactions, and sometimes even strained their relationships in another episode, the relationship dynamic is simply awesome.
Visual:
It's much more animated than the past Bandori and accurate as ever when they're playing their respective instruments, as expected! The characters' expressions are way more animated, especially Anon, Soyo, and Taki, their expressions are much delight to look at! From smug, sad, evil, angry, etc, they are really expressive!
The lighting is almost perfect, they used a lot of dramatic lighting in MyGO and it came out B-E-A-UTIFUL! But there are also some parts where it looks kinda flat, albeit not many.
Music/Sound Design::
Do you even need to ask? lol. This is Bandori we're talking about, it has AWESOME songs, and SUPERB sound design, when they play in underground livehouse, it SOUNDS like an underground livehouse, the guitar strumming, drums, some fumblings on vocals, perfect even in minute detail, even the effects board. Chef's kiss~
Characters:
AYO 10/10!
The characters feel more like human, lot more depth, and personality! They have their own selfish desires, and not always for the betterment of the band, but for their own. You just gotta watch it to understand.
Story:
This is probably the longest Bandori story i've ever watched. By that, i mean as it is.
Usually in previous Bandori, we will get a live show one after each 2-3 episodes, and that's not the case in MyGO. They're having a hard time looking for members, practicing, and finding the right song to sing. A bit of a spoiler, but you won't get to see them having their first live show until the 7th episode. They taking their sweet time developing the characters, and their relationships, and the payoff is truly awesome!
Verdict:
Go watch this, one of the most intense music drama of this generation.

DARK SUN GOING FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!
At least that's what i feel when i watch this OVA, yes it feels like you're in a passenger seat and the driver steps on the acceleration pedal like the world's end is behind you and go as fast as they can to reach the destination, and you can't enjoy the trip.
Even though i was quite surprised with the earlier part which are quite decent, but my expectation soon betrayed. It feels like a summary of the most important arc in Persona 5 rather than proper episode. Nothing is explained properly, every confidant characters were forcefully appear despite the short
...
duration, they don't even try to shake the audience emotion when it should be in certain scenes, everything feels abrupt.
And if everything feels abrupt, of course it affects the overall sound department too. Everyone's favorite "River in the Desert" doesn't pack a punch like how it supposed to be, because it doesn't have enough time, same with everything else in this OVA.
It is really bad. But Kawakami is really cute when teasing Joker, hence the saving grace.

Go beyond your limit! PLUS ULTRA!
(i literally wanted to scream my lungs out watching this)
MY HERO ACADEMIA - TWO HEROES
*REVIEW* *POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD
I actually didn't expect much when i'm about to watch this movie because i watched BONES' Bungou Stray Dogs movie, Dead Apple. But boy am i glad that this movie really go beyond my expectation!
The premise of the story fits in when UA students are having a school break and some of them got an invitation to a man-made island filled with scientist and hi-tech stuffs, I-Island which also having a pre-opening to the public (previously private). The island have top-tier security, and
...
always compared to Tartarus, the famous prison in MHA universe. But despite that, a group of villains manages to break in. Now it's the heroes' job to fight the villains and save the day!
*STORY*
As the title suggests, this movie highlights its two stars, that is Toshinori and Midoriya. While the opening act features a powerful blow from young Toshinori when he studies in USA, some might think that probably nothing can tops this act for the rest of the movie, lemme tell you this, that is a gravely wrong assumption.
That opening act also serves as Toshinori's and his best friend, Dave's, backstory. The overall story itself serves as Midoriya's growth as a character as there are people and conditions that made him guilt tripping at some points in the movie, and that made me want this story somehow canonized.
While as we can see from the trailer, not all the students of class A are shown, that is to serve for better purpose and reasons behind it. They managed to highlights each of the students' power and how they contribute to each other to help people, all within the timeframe of 95 minutes, even made fangirls in the cinema started squealing when they reveals Kirishima and Todoroki.
The story directing from how, why, and who when the conflict started, delivered in a great way and with pretty good pacing, all the better when it's almost reaching the climax, with occasional comedy placement between Mineta and Kaminari, that's really not out of place nor character, it's really fresh.
Though there's a bit (really bit) bitter aftertaste in my tongue regarding the conclusion, for its lacks of aftermath scene. Despite that, i still suggest you wait until credit scene with "Long Hope Philia" song ends.
*CHARACTER*
Dave and Melissa Shield is a great character for Toshinori's and Midoriya's character development. They are a very likeable character, and very supportive to the both teacher-student, with a good backstory behind them that made me really sorry for Midoriya. Alas, aside from that i can't disclose much more about them as it will become spoiler.
As for the other characters, well if you watched this movie before watching the main series i suggest you watch them first, it'll be much clearer of why they are there, their backgrounds and their statuses in the universe.
Maybe that's kind of a minus too, there aren't any explanation of what their quirk is like how the series usually shows. Also the villains whose only purpose is to highlights the two heroes.
*VISUAL*
As for the visual itself i can't say it's great, it's just normal like how the series usually is, the colour palette and backgrounds aren't especially striking, really just normal. BUT, THAT IS COVERED BY SUPERB ANIMATIONS!!! OH MY GOD!!! WHAT AN EYEGASM! IT MADE ME JUMPED OFF MY SEAT, LIKE YOOOOOOOOWWWW WTFFF!!!! THE PALETTE SUDDENLY CHANGES FITTING THE ANIMATION, THE ANIMATION OF QUIRKS, POWERS, DESTRUCTION IN THE BACKGROUND, EXPRESSION, MOVEMENT, ALL THAT MADE MY JAW DROPPED! As the story builds, the animation are so on point of which scenes they needed to emphasize, it's so awesome and fits really well with story, character and sound.
*SOUND*
Two thumbs up, the foley and OSTs really immersed me. This is what i actually afraid of, and made me lowers my expectation. Because in the movie BONES made previously (Dead Apple), all the songs are inserted here and there, and those are not instrumental, which kinda distracts the audience because there are dialogues when the songs inserted. But thankfully, here on Two Heroes they mainly using an instrumental musics fitting the situation and mood. WHICH MADE MY ADRENALINE PUMPING (or maybe the whole audience in the cinema).
(+) The story is great, serves more development for Toshinori and Midoriya
(+) Likeable new characters
(+) Animation is superb
(+) Fighting scene is really great and impactful
(+) Foley and OSTs are awesome
(+) Enough screentime to highlights the students involved
(+) Made you think some things may cause a plothole in the main series, but it's actually not
(-) Lackluster villain motivation
(-) Some students aren't explained really well of how they get to the island
(-) The graphic are standard
Summary:
It was a great experience watching this movie, they successfully delivers the story they wanted to show and character's mood visualization, especially Midoriya's, which is very crucial. Despite the lacking of good villain and aftermath, this movie is still very enjoyable and worth watching.
I really hope Dave and Melissa get canonized tho UwU.

I TOTALLY DIDN'T EXPECT WHAT I'M ABOUT TO WATCH HAS THIS POWERFUL IMPACT!
The atmosphere is really heavy i found myself hard to breathe sometimes, accompanied with powerful scoring, they really made this movie with theatre in mind, totally polar opposite of the main series.
But really, the scoring and the atmosphere really punch me in the chest, Yoshitsugu Matsioka's voice acting is exceptionally terrific it made me tremble for every emotional moment of the movie. As for the animation, there should be no room for doubt looking at the studio behind it, eh? The relationship between Riku and Shuvi are really the treat of the show,
...
i really liked how they developed it and how it climaxed despite the strict timeframe of the movie.
The story plot itself is pretty straightforward, the closest analogy would be like that of prophet Moses. Since i'm a secondary (i didn't read the novel), there are some point that i don't get at first but i understood it quickly (thanks to my movie education), but this may be different for those who didn't study in the field and are a secondary, because there are some terms/objects that aren't explained that well.
In the end, it was a pretty great experience watching this movie, i totally didn't expect it. The emotion it conveys really pierce my heart,
even up until the end credit! DAMMIT NINJAS CUTTING ONIONS!

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is like a romance - comedy i've been longed for. A school themed rom-com that can makes me laugh and watched it again and again. Why? Because the characters in this anime is very interesting. Each of them has their own distinc trait, and because of that kind of thing, i laugh really hard when i first thought that haru is a (your common) delinquent, turns out to be a cheerful and honest person.
Honestly, i think i won't feel enough with just 13 episode
