Both anime are about children held in a caring environment that turns out to be not what it seems. Both contain graphic images of monsters present and are both thrillers worth watching

Not entirely similar but they're both action packed and show a strong dynamic relationship between male characters. Both anime are in my top favourite anime as the plots are amazing and show a clear structure. The main characters are strong and independent and work hard at surviving in completely different worlds. Banana Fish is set in New York, America around the 90's, whereas Vinland Saga is set during the Viking Era in England. Check both of them out if you haven't already done so

Both main characters have an autonomic, robotic way of speaking. Their emotions are kept in check at the beginning and they're the strong female lead characters we like to see. Both main characters are beautifully animated and are visually pleasing. The plots on both are completely different but Violet and Vivy are quite similar in nature.

Both include the concept of time travel and trying to fix the world to result in an alternate, ideal universe. Character's in both anime show distinct characteristics that make them likable and interesting. Both anime have amazing action scenes without holding back on the bloody scenes. Vivy's animation style is a lot better as it's been recently released from WIT studio, but only had two episodes so far (as of this writing) as it's currently airing.
