The difference between the first and second half of this anime is as different as night and day and yet both work to create a beautiful story. This show starts out almost like a supernatural 1980's detective drama, often there will be a tale or fairy tale which then in someway to the plot followed by a central mystery which will then be solved in the coming episodes. The show also only features only two main characters (with a few minor side characters). When I heard this I imagined the show would become dull and feel slow in pacing, however, each episode feels
...
fresh and the mysteries are extremely intriguing. Managing to keep a show this engaging with few characters, no action or fan service is the sign of truly excellent writing.
Half way through the show the style of story writing changes and somehow becomes even better. Small arc's with closed-off mysteries fades out and a storyline is crafted where each part connects leading to one of the best last 3 episodes of anime all around.
Highly recommend.

While ecchi and harem anime are common, the mystery ecchi 'subgenre' is pretty rare. This show has a similar concept to "Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka?" (Hensuki) in that the main character must uncover the central mystery and just happens to plow through cute waifus making them fall in love with him while he's at it.
(Spoiler) While this didn't change my rating, this show would have been infinitely better had the dub not ruined the mystery via voice on the first episode. I assumed it was done purposely, which kept me hooked on the show, but no it was a genuine

dubbing mistake. So without revealing anything, the sub is more recommended. (/Spoiler)
The central cast get introduced quite quickly and the first few episodes can feel like charcter overload but the author then does an excellent job of creating plot which helps with you getting to know them. Very few characters are added after episode 2, meaning you get time and develop an attachment with each of them.
Overall, Would recommend, especially for harem fans,

Despite my rating, I thoroughly enjoyed this show and would recommend it if you're looking for an easy to watch action, ecchi similar to "black bullet", however, If you're looking for a solid story this is not the show for you. The writer seemed to go off in several directions without ever firmly creating a solid story and I have seen several people complain about this, dropping the show mid way through. It also feels as if the author wanted to add more cute girls to the harem, imagined them, but then realised he needed some plot in order to in fit them in, letting
...
other story elements slip, which is fine with me as I never went in to this for some "from the new world" degree of plot, but something to consider.
In terms of animation its fairly basic, doing what it needs to in order to portray fight scenes with some degree of motion. Its good enough not to be off putting and allowing for a fine watching experience. Heavy CGI is used in the first episode but then isn't used again until the last, so don't let this be an off-putting factor for you.
If you want a nice palette cleanser and some cute waifus between other shows this is a good choice.

Recommended if: This is a story that is propelled by the creation of a new galge game. The way this is done keeps the story fresh making you wish for the continued success of the cast, however be in no doubt that the central theme in this show is that of romance, particularly an ever growing love triangle that manages to make itself feel not too cheesy or over the top but quite heart-warming at times. If this sounds appealing then I would certainly recommend this show with it being on par with "My Teen romantic comedy" but still not quite as much as "quintessential
...
quintuplets" or "rent-a-girlfriend" which are much better representatives of the genre.
Story 5: I define the story as being the underlying plot which moves the story forwards, meaning the characters, which I believe are a star point of this show are not included in this rating. Without spoiling any aspects, the story does not move forward in any meaningful manner until episode 7 at least. I'm unsure whether this was an attempt at building love for the characters but certainly much of it was unnecessary. Several plot points also start and then don't reach conclusions. This point would be better served in a spoiler filled review, but as you watch pay attention to the central beginning plot points across episodes 1-6. The writer does not find a way for the protagonist to reach a satisfying solution and so instead the story is magically whisked to the next stage leaving you as the watcher feeling like "okay.. so I guess this is moving on" other plot points don't even attempt at a solution leaving a someone frustrated feeling. It is for this reason that I dropped this show twice before watching it fully. The story from episodes 8-12 improves drastically and expertly places the characters in scenarios where their charms could be show both fully and separately, if this anime was solely episode 9 and 10 I would be writing a much happier 9/10 review at least. Hence I would recommend soldiering through the first few episodes.
Art 6: The art of this show is both modern and soft in a way that allows the watcher, for the most part, to immerse themselves in the story. The characters are beautifully drawn and facial animation is executed in a way that one would expect from a modern production. A few minor issues, this may be a harked on point, but the CGI during crowd scenes in terrible bordering on laughable. I understand the work load the animators are under but I haven't seen a show in a while where the CGI people are SO bad that it takes you out of the story. Furthermore, some animation such as walking animation is a little... weird? kind of like they're moonwalking away. So keep these in mind.
Characters 9: As previously touched on the characters are the highlight of this show. Shows under this genre are risky, whereas an action anime can fall back on its music, colouring and explosions to keep the audience pumped and engaged, this type of show needs the characters to be loveable. Compared to others of the same genre, touched on earlier, each character is shown to be unique and well built through episodes centred on showing just them off and progressing them as a character. Whilst the characters in the show may joke that one another is an over-blown cliche, the author seems acutely aware in ensuring that this isn't the case, a major plus of this show.
Overall, despite initially dropping this show twice, having finished season one I will be immediately moving on to season two mainly due to both wanting to see if they finish the project and to view the characters more. My hope for this anime is that the story stays on course and picks up where it left off.
