tldr for those who don't want to read the rest; very enjoyable, but tackles dark topics. does get nsfw a little, and touches upon noncon (i don't want to talk too much abt it) so if that's not your thing, you might not want to read. but very enjoyable. i highly recommend it.
kemono jihen is insanely good, which makes me wonder why it's not more well known. the story is gripping, and you best believe that and the characters made me cry at multiple times. the art is very good, and my enjoyment skyrocketed. it made me forget why i went to read it (bc
...
i was depressed) and the only complaint i have is that 20 chapters is too short and i am now depressed again.
the darker, tragic bits of it only add to the overall emotional aspect. and there is a little bit of straight romance teased, but nothing completely concrete. character backstories are a bit like kimetsu no yaiba, since...well, you'll understand.
the character themselves are very fun, and each have unique designs that help me recognize them. kabane is a fun main character, and unlike most shounens i read, i don't hate him. the others are all very likeable as well, and if not likeable they're striking. i like them as characters, but some i wouldn't like as people.
also, i've always loved supernatural elements, especially urban fantasy. kemono jihen does some great urban fantasy, and i love all the supernatural "kemono" presented. (mihai is my fav!)
in conclusion, please read kemono jihen

TLDR (yes, at the top); out has pretty good art that improves, but completely fits the tone of the story. the characters are great and likable. the story is fast paced and exciting enough to binge. and personal enjoyment is off the charts.
i binged out in one school day after finishing homework, and i don't think i'll ever be the same. for one, out is amazing. i normally don't really like delinquent manga, and i only bother with gore when it's part of a death game manga. the gore in out is, well, gory, but if i can stomach it, you can.
for technical aspects, out
...
is pretty good. the art gets better, and if you're someone who likes characters who are more, well, attractive to help enhance reading experience, out does have the occasional hot character. acchan is my personal fave if we're not going into spoiler territory. the characters are compelling and the ones meant to be likable are for the most part likeabe. the story is exactly the kind of thriller and action you'd except, and i can't help but be swept along in it.
but, of course, i am exactly the kind of person who rates manga by personal enjoyment rather than technical aspects (that's not to say out is lacking, by any means. i could wax poetry about the symbolism and prose, but that involves spoilers and we're not here for that).
let's put it this way: out made me cry, and the last time i cried was when i got a 67 on midterms. the story has a way of getting you attached to characters, and sometimes twists so many times you don't know who to trust, which only creates a sense of empathy for the manga characters, as far as i'm concerned. i don't hesitate to recommend out to anyone willing to give it a shot. there's something so raw and poignant out has, even with the dirty humor and constant fistfights. this is more than a story about teens beating each other up--it made me legit cry, that's for sure.

if you don't want to read my entire review, here it is summarized: talentless nana is good, you all are just mean.
with everything i read, it's never about some god-like realization i get. it's always enjoyment factor, down to the core of it. talentless nana might not make you a believer, but you're going to love it or i'm going to take you out.
talentless nana, at its core, isn't really about world building. from what i've seen, it's a psychological type of manga, and gives focus on connections. i don't meant to be so vague, but read up until chapter 5 before you make a
...
judgement. for one of my friends, she read an article from someone who put dissed the manga after two chapters just because of world building and unrealistic qualities. those holes do have a reason that is built up to later on, so it's about actually getting to the bottom of the iceberg. guess who really likes it now?
ultimately, there's so much to gush over. personally, i love the foreshadowing and subtle hints across the story that help you form an idea; and because for me and my friends, they turned out true, it only proves that the writing is good enough to give you an idea of what's going to happen. the manga doesn't rely heavily on shock factor, and there's a sense of satisfaction you get when your prediction clicks just right. there are twists, of course, unpredictable ones that just get you more into it.
also, the characters, or at least the main one, grows throughout the story. it's like watching your own child develop. very good, though i'll say no more. the art also improves just after a few chapters. and have i mentioned the enjoyment factor is killer?

I've got a lot of excess feelings since the translations finished so here we go!
First of all, for all my reviews I rank by personal enjoyment. Sometimes I'm looking for a masterpiece, most times I'm looking for a way to kill time and then I get attached. With Ikenie Touhyou, it's the latter.
The plot is nothing too special; the characters don't strike me as particularly interesting, but the plot does its turns and despite how everything seems to jump right to the dirty stuff I still got emotional.
Seriously, this isn't some philosophical manga about technology and human connections. It's not your best go-to when
...
you're feeling pretentious and want to hunt down fridge brilliance examples, but if your heart isn't completely shut off and you still get emotional at times, this might be your manga when you're bored.
You'll have a fun time if you're looking for a somewhat satisfying conclusion, a single tear or two at very specific moments, and some decent twists here and there. You will not enjoy this if you're expecting something better than your average "survival game" type of story.
You best believe I'm gonna write a discussion about what I liked to preach on a soapbox, by the way.

i normally hate writing reviews. and it's not like anyone will see this, but: kuzumi-kun is absolutely amazing and i love it lots. therefore, i am obligated by my inner weeb to write a review for the sake of myself. i finished reading this in like two hours i am so goddamned whipped by this manga.
it's slow burn as fuck, but the way the characters develop is completely ugh. amazing. and they don't develop as the normal "ah yes no longer a pompous, annoying brat" but moreso of a gradual change in the way they act amongst each other. am i talking about the slow
...
burn romance? hell yeah.
did i mention the slow burn? yeah, it's so slow. and yeah, i'm a slow burn person so i don't get fed up as fast as other people might, but i still think it's very bearable. there's always little hints that get you screaming (literally. i broke down multiple times over things i'd normally experience day to day.) and yelling. i'm still half in happy tears because god, i got really emotional. the romance and shoujo is so unbearable and it's written in a way that doesn't make it feel boring and repetitive (i'm looking at you, every other shoujo i've read).
and god, i love the romance. nooo, it's not because it reminds me way too much of my middle school love life from years ago, what do you mean? haha, it's not like kuzumi resembles the guy i used to like or anything, ha,, haa.....
but in all seriousness, the romance is so good and real. erika is so endearing i fell in love with her first, and then kuzumi second. mostly, it's about erika's love for kuzumi and how tsundere but cute she is. i won't too far into that because there's other reviews, but HOT DAMN that is some good ass shit right there. good ass shit.
okay and what else.....art is great, i've got fifty screenshots to cry about.....i'm still all teary and emotional because god, the fluff, and also? right now is the perfect time to pick it up. the little developments in erika and kuzumi's relationship keep you going, and then.... ;)) nice ol big development. you'll see. it's great!! join my suffering as soon as you can and i'll yell with anyone who approaches me.
god i'm so disorganized and messy please forgive me. really, i just like....think kuzumi-kun is super cute and cool and perfect for anyone into romance, school life, and slow burn.
