As it is, FLCL is extremely enjoyable, fun to watch, and taking a better look at things helps you see the characters in a better light, since almost all the entertainment in this series is character-driven.
Naota, from my point of view, suffers because of all the trouble Haruko causes him, and he has other burdens, such as Mamimi. He tries to be something he isn', an adult,, and that alone can make things a lot harder, hence, he struggles.
The plot focuses on Naota, Haruko, Canti and Atomsk, the reason Haruko came to earth, Naota's purpose and the reason he is needed. The plot trigger ... is Amarao, who is somehow related to Haruko.
To you, who is reading this review, i highly recommend this series if you want: cat ears, problematic characters, random plot and tons fun.
