Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha II: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e Kayou Part 2 (2024)
Honestly, the show gets thinner and thinner as it goes. The first season had some depth to it with the hardships but it has gradually just gotten to a point where everyone is so damn powerful on the Anos side that they may as well just take over the world. They are unstoppable with insane power. Some shows have 1 character or a few in a class with people that can fight them but not this anymore. The story is pointless, no matter how deep
...
it gets Anos and his crew will walk through it with no issues outside of emotional moments of crying then happiness 10 seconds later.
The art is not bad; it has kept with its original art, which is great, but nothing has really improved. Some shows are great for keeping the art so similar but this one feels like it is just a bit meh now.
The sound has gotten a bit flatter as the show has gone on. I was hoping for explosions for example to have an echo or a boom but no.
The characters are boring now, for me. Anos has such incredible power that he is better than everyone in every way but also talks you to death about it. The main girls Sasha and Misha are just so incredibly powerful that they don't have to try anymore. All of them to be honest just either have insane power or stand in awe of the group. It just is pretty boring, you can fight a god with thousands of years of experience, feared by many of great power and 2 minutes later they are defeated and switching sides or go away in shame. This has happened before but at least they put up a fight that was worth it. What was the point of them, if not only the main character but his crew could do that. The weaker members of the choir as I think of them, suddenly have mysterious backgrounds or abilities popping up. You have attempts at romance that are overshadowed by cringey fights to prove love. It is just too much in too little time.
For me the show is dead, it is gone from a reasonable watch where I gave it an 8 then a 7 and now honestly I cannot find any reason to go above a generous 3. The show is flashy, trying to do too much all at once whilst making everyone in the main cast the main character. If it continues like this then the world will just cease to function surely.
3/10. I'm done.

Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin (2014)
Just before this time 10 years ago this show was released and it still stands up pretty well. All we have here is a feel-good slice-of-life show with some treasure hunting, ulterior motives and friendship.
The story itself is treasure hunting as I say on an island that has been expanded with schools on it. We have heard this set-up before but not so much with the treasure hunting. The show has a nice simple flow, some good comedy and a story that is easy to keep up with. It has a darker tone about it but you need not worry
...
as it isn't explored particularly during this. I do wonder how all those ruins were set up, an interesting bit of lore.
The art has stood the test of time fantastically and could be released today and you would not notice compared to some other shows around.
The OST is fun, the voices are good, some good minor SFX there too.
The characters all fall into fairly generic roles. The main character looks like a delinquent but isn't, he's from a troubled home but cares for them still and has friends that follow him. Tensai a master detective, is clearly beyond any doubt the best girl and absolutely should be the girlfriend. Nanana is a ghost girl from the origins of the island and then there are others. You have a pretty well-rounded cast here.
For how chilled and easy this show is and how it sets itself up for a season 2 I am shocked that it didn't get a season 2. If only I was a billionaire, I'd be making many shows continue. I enjoyed this, I do recommend it and would watch it again and would love to have seen it carry on since I watched it in 2 days. 8/10.

Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 (2024)
Gorgeous animation and a good pace. Yet again the show is following a great style especially since when it started being aired as a whole it was a bit controversial.
This time we have more of the story, definitely not a stand-alone show, you need to watch what came before or there is little point to watching this. It was good to see some big flags raised, good and bad. Seeing the emotion and the combat with much more lore about the world explored was great. The show didn't hang hard on things that it didn't
...
need to either, it just got on with it.
The animation for this show looks fantastic, with really great quality overall. I suspect even in 10 years this show will look fantastic.
The sound for me is one of the biggest things in any show. The combat sounded superb and was great on my surround sound when needed.
I am happy to see we are going into yet another season, the show has much to offer and hopefully will continue in this direction. 9/10.

Kaijuu 8-gou (2024)
Best show of the season that I watched. An unexpected marvel but as usual it was review was bombed by people who didn't watch. If you want to see a show get straight into a battle and have conclusions in all episodes then go back to watching Pokemon. This like many shows is not for people that want an outcome every episode.
Kaiju, people seem to be getting all Pacific Rim at the shows like this now. Kaiju means a strange beast, it doesn't have to be the antagonist or protagonist they could be neutral. The word is about more than just a
...
giant creature, using it improperly just makes you look dumb. This show is absolutely a Kaiju show.
Does Kafka have weird things where he struggles to jog but can run away from giant monsters yes. Does it matter? Not really. Show me your flawless anime. Maybe it is part of the plot by the Kaiju, do you know definitively?
The art for this show is superb, dark and gritty. It looks exactly how I want it to be for this kind of show and it would suit a live adaptation. Combat looks great and gory. Emotions are shown and characters show injury and development that carries.
The sound is pretty great, episode 10 was my best episode at the end and the use of the music was superb.
Characters are likeable, they are developed and they contribute to the story more than just using the power of friendship as seen so many times.
9/10. A great show, and hopefully not ruined in season 2.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 3 (2024)
As usual, the show is ruined by reviews of people who haven't watched the whole season but decided they were bored. This is the normal plague that hits anime. The show is fun, but it is not a super serious show, so stop expecting epic things to happen all the time. It is made up of jokes and shenanigans.
This is a marriage arc that is foiled, as you would expect, not a spoiler because why would this ever be a serious show based on everything that has happened?
The art looks fantastic! better and better.
The sound
...
is awesome, another great set of explosions.
The characters are all the same and lovable. Some are more honest than they have ever been before but still silly and goofy.
The show has two parts, and both parts lead into each other. The princess arc leading into the marriage arc is not related as directly as it sounds. I want this show to continue, 9/10 for me.

Date A Live V (2024)
I want this to be a 10, I want it if not to be a 9, but I can't get past a 5.
The show is the continuation as you expect but now the story is not really the fun dating with some battles but it is also not quite the battles you want it to be either. The show sits in the middle of what it is trying to achieve and gives me at least a mixed feeling.
Does the story go full steam ahead? Yes.
Is it satisfying? Not really.
Is it bloated? Yes.
Do the love connections make any
...
difference more than just shouting SHIDO! SHIDO! SHIDO! Over and over? Nope.
Does Kurumi still come out as the best girl? Yes, yes she does.
Can we believe it took them that long to figure out who Deus was? Apparently.
Has it ever been the same since Origami stopped being a pervert? No, it has not.
The show is at its climax, everything has come together and now we are met with the showdown, it is just a shame it felt quite hollow. The show looks beautiful in terms of characters for definite. Everything was good but not the best, it has been better before.
My biggest issue is that even with the ending, I don't feel like the story came together but it was just cramming a mass of chapters into 12 episodes. Maybe it was too quick, maybe it needed a climax movie to follow. I think now for me the show has run its course, time to leave it alone. 5/10.

Dungeon Meshi (2024)
Nearly avoided this as a boring cooking show, glad I didn't and came back to it.
The show is funny and pretty deep at times but then just as it gets deep and dark suddenly it's time for a snack. For a while shows that have people eating monsters turn into monsters themselves or gain levels or powers. This time you get a full belly and a new delicious snack. The show's premise is a rescue mission but without money or supplies, they need to feast on the dungeon itself much to the dismay of others until they join in.
The artwork is
...
fun, goofy and what was needed for a show designed not to take itself too seriously.
The soundtrack is heroic when it needs to be and soothing otherwise.
The characters are a generic dungeon raid party featuring the factions you would expect. I will say it has been an enjoyable set of characters with no one I can say that is not likeable.
The show is worth watching, it is an easy watch with some good laughs. 9/10.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei 3rd Season (2024)
Don't be fooled by the artwork, this show is very much not about the school anymore but about everyone at First High being unnecessarily strong constantly. The story is a great continuation, has a lot of talking but again has many very powerful people getting schooled by students.
The artwork is pretty much the same as always but more polished each time.
The soundtrack is the same, it is kind of monotone at points, maybe that is what they wanted?
Characters are ridiculous at this point. You have rivals that are stopped by the power of friendship so quickly that
...
you wonder why they were even mad in the first place. Students are fighting against powerful warlords, people with masses of experience, with unknown powers but they all get taken out like children fighting a bear by high schoolers. You see people hit the good guys who in a faction of a billionth of a second stopped the attack and then schooled them.
I love the series from what it used to be. It isn't as good as it used to be but it still has merit in the show. I think this is an example of a story that has become about having everyone fall at the feet of a singular group no matter what. Feels like the high schoolers are all max-levelled going for prestige versus people that have sat at home and done nothing to improve themselves.
A side note, whilst I do love Miyuki, her obsession with Tatsuya at this point just gets a bit creepier each time. Eventually, I feel like this will turn into Yosuga no Sora.
Overall, 7/10. Not as good as before but still a good show.

5-toubun no Hanayome Movie (2022)
‘Become someone necessary’ is my favourite line from Uesugi.
The film was a great way to finish off this series, happened in an expected but unexpected way. I think more of a shoutout is needed for the quintuplet’s dad who works long hours to support the daughters he loves. A true dad.
The film is wide-reaching and covers every hole I could think of in the show. I like how you get a good clean ending, see the final school festival and have some conflict resolution. I do wonder how the other sisters will cope going forward with finding partners. Since
...
we know some other guys liked some of the other girls it would be nice to know who they ended up with if anyone at all.
Artistically speaking it looks superb, the show is very much top-tier. It does not need to be insane since it is not action or something that needs extreme detail. It does however cover even the smallest details well enough that you can make it out easily. The eyes are a big thing in this show done so well.
The sound is great, the music brings out emotion when it is needed and gives a real sense of what happens. The OST is fitting too, a real hard throbbed.
The characters have all developed and moved on. It is great to see a show come to an end like this and reach a climax that doesn’t leave you endlessly wondering. Happy to see the little sister continue her development even at the end. I do still wonder about further in their futures but equally, it is enough.
The ultimate thing for this show is that we have a show that could have been an awkward harem that is a coming-of-age epic. You get to see the trials and tribulations of what people go through. I am sure some of us wish we had the levels of what this show gives off. It took me a while to get around to this, only because I kind of didn’t want it to end.
10/10. An absolute pleasure to watch and feel.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e 3rd Season (2024)
This is where my journey began, we entered April 2024 and I thought is it time to start this, I awaited the new season to start, gander at the previous season and saw this in its 3rd season and thought, you know what, Let's go!!! The show I watched in order, I binged it, got to this point on the 08th of April 2024 after going for it between work, I am not disappointed.
The show has progressed, fast, hard and heavily. So much happens, maybe the first 2 episodes were not the best but they
...
were not the worst. For someone who hasn't read the novels I was confused by the hate for the paper shuffle but then it did seem rushed, apparently that was a good thing, so let us take it as a blessing. The rest of the season rocked, it got deeper and remember WATCH OUT FOR AFTER CREDIT SCENES. Sometimes they happen and sometimes they don't, sometimes they add little and other times people get asked out!! The stakes have never been higher in this season and it shows.
The art looks better than ever, more polished but the same style, great job for getting the same studio, that's 4 out of 4 now for Studio Lerche. This show has kept the same style the entire way through, it feels like watching a show with the same actors each time because you have seen them grow without anything wacky happening in the art.
The voices are still superb, and the background music and intro/outro are great. The best, however, is that quiet bit of instrumental you get when a big thing is happening with the progression of a character.
The characters grow and grow and grow, but never once do they forget who they are as hard as that may be. Some people think they are done, and what can they do now, but they pull it back thanks to the cast, especially Ayanokouji. Other's come out as villains and are defeated but they will be back, they always come back. Ayanokouji goes through so much, deals with so much and even has an amazing scene after the credits of the final episode that makes him look so genuine that you can't but rewatch that moment. Watch it.
The show has hit season 3, I want it to hit season 4, I want it to be completed, I want to see them graduate and even have a nice OVA to show the future with a time skip. Equally, I would love to cross over, I'd love a show to cross the characters into others like with 'Your Name' and 'Weathering With You'. This show deserves to be remembered, it needs to continue. Let us hope for season 4 and beyond.
