For starters they're both by the same manga artist and they also both use the same composer (two very epic soundtracks, I've gotta add!) They each have various storylines following different characters, which all end up overlapping. They also both include similar characters elements such as the use of gangs, information brokers and supernatural beings - the Black Rider in Durarara and the homonculi in Baccano. Baccano has more action and gore whereas I'd say Durarara has more character depth and comedy. There's also a fun little crossover appeal. The password to the Dollars website in Durarara is "Baccano" and Isaac and Miria have a couple of cameo appearances in a few of the episodes.

Two of Square Enix's greatest shows and were also, along with Eureka 7, the first series to run for 51 episodes. They both create the perfect balance between a gripping storyline, epic fights and appropriately used light-hearted humour. Each shows a great amount of character depth and growth and they both use characters with their own personalised fighting styles (eg. different types of alchemy and different kinds of weapon partners). Also if you watch the dub you'll recognise a lot of Funimation's top voice actors in both. If you liked one of these I would highly recommend the other - they're both addictive!

Both follow a small group of young girls who are "chosen" to take on heroic roles and are blessed with magical powers. They both use a similar mix of dramatic fight scenes, light-hearted humour and awkward romantic relationships. They each also have a key pet/guide type character that can't actually speak - Mokona in Magic Knight Rayearth and Mini Mew in Tokyo Mew Mew.

Both series follow a strong-minded protaganist who has their own sense of justice and wants to create a better world. They both attempt to achieve this through supernatural means that they have been gifted with. The main difference between the two is that Code Geass is a mecha anime, whereas Death Note isn't.

Elfen Lied

Both anime are fairly central around a lead male who becomes friends with several girls - each of whom have their own dark sides to deal with. Whereas for the most part Air seems to be quite a lighthearted anime in comparison to Elfen Lied, there's a particularly dark underlying story that becomes more prominant as the story goes on. If you like anime that make you cry then I highly recommend them both!!
