The story and the art style evoke a Studio Ghibli/My Neighbor Totoro type of feel, while dealing with deeper themes of accepting the past, accepting change, and mourning. It fits very well with the plot. There are parts where it gets sort of confusing in the way that you are unsure whether the events occurring are actually happening in the current time of the story or are a dream or are a memory of the past.
