Catenaccio is a sports manga that isn't really similar to other football mangas.
For starters, we're introduced to our MC, Araki. We can see from chapter 1 that he is no prodigy and is not a genius at football either. Secondly, Araki plays the position 'centre back', which almost seems impossible to write an interesting story about, however the author has done a brilliant job at it - making every chapter greater than the previous. And finally, the story takes place outside of a high school and instead in an entirely different country.
Since Araki is by no means a prodigy, it makes his

'moments' 10x more satisfactory, making him feel like a true underdog. Catenaccio also does not have stereotypical development like other sports mangas. Instead of having a one week training arc where Araki is now better than before, we see his struggles and weaknesses but we also see how he can overcome them through dedicated training and grit to become the best.
One downside to this manga may be the art as sometimes it looked a little rough, but it was never bad enough for me to drop it.

The plot is quite simple, a world full of demons and people to kill them - exorcists!
With a fun artstyle, cool designs and loveable characters, this manga has been a lovely read so far
Reading it hasn't been hard as the plot isn't confusing and the pacing is good, the fights aren't dragged out (in fact I wish some were longer) and all the abilities and powers are unique, it's not just your generic elemental battleground. However I wish there was more of a power system to this manga, something like nen from HxH (but maybe it'll be introduced later on like haki in OP?)
The
...
art is one of the best things of this manga! A stylistic blend between cartoony and anime, it paves the way to express characters and cool looking demons in a new sense. It's also not something you see every day, making it more distinctive to any other modern day shounen.
However, the manga does suffer from being cliche at times, although most shounens now-a-days are. Even though some of it may be predictable, the paneling, stylistic art and characters make it enjoyable and easy to binge read. The change of pace from serious to lax and comedic is amazing, some moments I found myself genuinely laughing out loud. I hope this manga is able to make its way out of a cliche shounen manga and blossom into something new and innovative
It's a simple and easy read for all people, and I heavily recommend getting into it while you can.

While I was only able to get my hands on the first 12 chapters of this series, it was incredible!
It is an ongoing series and would be so much more popular if the rest of the chapters were translated. The story follows a cat called (you guessed it) Tatari. Without giving too much away, this manga has twists and turns you wouldn't expect.
The characters are all nice and the villains seem interesting, I can only hope they live up to my expectations. The story has a mix of slice of life as well as action, making it a good balance. Since I've only

been able to read 12 chapters, there isn't much to say other than that I'm very interested in how the story will progress and I would love to see more of the yokais!
The art is very cute and easy to look at - when necessary panels can look extreme and very cool
I have very high hopes and cannot wait for more chapters ;^)

"Onani Master Kurosawa"
While the title and first couple of chapters start off as almost goofy and light hearted, the story prevails itself as an amazing psychological manga, showing redemption through a simple story. The beginning may throw many people off but it is worth it to carry on.
The characters are all well thought out and deeper than meets the eye. Seeing Kurosawa develop from a perverted loner to someone who is able to flourish around others and free himself from guilt was uplifting to say the least. I found myself rooting for him every time - even when his actions were questionable.
The
...
plot was full of all types of twists and turns, after reading chapter 23 my heart sank waiting for the next chapter. However, prevailing forward was the best decision I could have made as this manga was certainly worth it. The story itself was incredibly simple, just a 'slice of life' sort of school setting. However, this simplicity let the abstractness and characters of everyone else flourish and develop, letting their relationships with each other expand and take the limelight.
Getting into Kurosawa himself, he was an absolutely brilliant MC. To avoid spoilers I'll keep it short, but he may very well be in my top 10 MC's, possibly even top 5. His responsibility and thought process throughout the whole manga left me in awe, and the contrast between his mindset and Kitahara was lovely to see (as well as eye-opening)
If you're thinking of reading this manga, please do.

Tokyo Ghoul has been one of my favourite mangas ever. The story is basic in premise however delves deep into themes of a dog-eat-dog world, carrying on abuse, discrimination and oppression and much more.
The plot follows a world where ghouls and humans co-exist however, it is an unreachable expectation for them to coagulate. This is because ghouls are always seen as less and inferior to humans as they aren't able to live without human flesh and are unstable and dangerous. With an already unfair and corrupt world, it sets the scene for a dark and twisted tale.
The characters are fleshed out and we
...
see all sides of them as it focuses on many personnels than just Kaneki himself. At first they may seem 1-dimensional, as the story progresses so does Ishida's writing. Kaneki goes from a whiny mc to a self-sacrificing saviour who cares deeply for his friends and the emotional ties that come with them.
Another amazing part of Tokyo Ghoul is the art. The evolution of the paneling and how Ishida's draws is phenomenal. Fight scenes are easy and clear to read, linework becomes more confident and composition improves. It is by far one of the strongest points.
However, while I do think it's a 10/10, some people may have other things to say. Regarding the themes and plot, it may appear as lackluster and a shallow attempt at seeming deep. I personally believe that Tokyo Ghoul was able to accomplish the basics of what it was attempting but it may have struggled to fully flesh out all of the ideas. Second of all, (focusing on Kaneki) - people have split opinions on his characters but to me his development was amazing. While I feel as if he suffered too much (at some times), it was all of that suffering that lead him to want to protect those close to him and uniting ghouls and humans.
In conclusion, Tokyo Ghoul is one of the greatest manga's I've read and I highly recommend it to others. Of course there are flaws within it, however they don't deter from the masterpiece created. The ending of Tokyo Ghoul is also satisfying and you can leave it there (however Tokyo Ghoul: Re is also a great read ^^)
