To be very frank, the story ( or more precise , the plot ) is not the best thing about this amazing masterpiece. If you know even a bit about both World Wars , you can certainly predict what major events will happen. That being said, following the story of Tanya, the author managed to make the dangerous , boring and often very fucked up life of a soldier exciting , or at the very least , interesting to see, which is an amazing achievement. It's even more interesting to see that the main character of this manga has a lot of ... interesting inner-thoughts and beliefs, plus , seeing things that had happened in the past unfold in front of us and we already knew what would happen, this showed quite a promising premiere that is done brilliantly . (That being said , the manga didn't include quite a lot of expositions from the LN , but the artist still cramped as much as he could , which is also an amazing achievement considering the original novel proves to be very detailed , thorough and comprehensive. ). If you are a history-buff like me, or are interested in warfare in general , this manga is a hidden gem among the saturated, quite honestly pure trash sea of poorly-made light novels . (Me also being very interested in the Axis Powers and wars that has happened in Europe alike in general also helped with coping with the sheer information this novel/manga has). Magic and religion is also playing a huge role in this manga , and the author has made very interesting things regarding those 2 subjects. (If i go any deeper, that would be spoilers but I do intend to keep these spoil-free).

BASED TOUJO CHIKA. This guy is freaking amazing . He has a highly-stylized that you can recognize from first glances , plus memorable facial expressions make his artstyle very noticeable , like a glittering gem at night. The gore-scenes , or fight-scenes in general, are done beautifully in a way that gives off an intense feeling of intimidation and daunt, while remaining extremely stylish and polished. I have nothing but praises for a talent like him.
Character : 10
Tanya (aka Best girl) : The main character stands out to me as exceedingly wonderful. She feels extremely humane and well, possible. It makes senses how her personalities would be forged into what they are now , considering her environment and circumstances. It feels like it could happen to anyone , given the right conditions , and that's frightening. It's frightening how she is so cold , calculating and selfish, yet remains likable, wise and (somewhat) kind to the people around her. The moral-ambiguous nature of her personalities are the products of what happened to her , and that's what makes her so great . War is hell, this manga shows it very well, it's reasonable that the main character, who faces life-and-death situations many times, would be an anti-hero , or at least not innocent. You either die with your moral in-tact , or try and survive with all you have. Tanya carefully controls her fate as a soldier through cunning planning, wisdom and experience of her past-life as a guidance through life. For me personally, the more I read about her , the more I think i know about her, the more less i actually know about her. It's amazing how real Tanya feels , and she's definitely one of my favourite fictional character ever.
Side-characters : There are varied of SCs here and there , and some of them, even with limited screentime, managed to grab my attention and become memorable while remain relevant to the story. It's quite amazing how I still remember about the non-commissioned officer who guarded Tanya's rifle and operation orb than I do about the main characters of most (dropped) light novels I've read, and he wasn't even that relevant to the story ! From the Brigadier , to the First Lieutenant when Tanya was transferred to the Western Front , every plot-relevant side-character have very unique yet realistic personalities that left you wondering if they are based off of real people. Once again , the author has outdone himself.
Enjoyment : 10 (Highly-subjective)
Like i mentioned before, if you are interested in history, especially 20th century European history, and 20th century warfare in general , this manga is the magnum opus of this era's LN , the Citizen Kane of LN and Manga. It takes on a more realistic, exposition-heavy style that not many LN does (or tries to do), and it's heartwarming to know that such a talented writer and artist decided to tackle this project and bring it to life. I'm very pleased with this manga as it turns out , coming from someone who read the novel and had an almost impossible expectation.

The manga is marvelous, spectacular , and evidently the product of genius minds. Amazing writing , mindbogglingly beautiful art, a group of likable and memorable characters to compliment delightfully this masterpiece. I may sound pretentious now , but this series deserves nothing but praises. A must-read

tl;dr : An amazing episodic, atmospheric and short manga. It's meant for you to relax and enjoy yourself. I recommend Mushishi if you like this kind of manga.

- This manga has no coherent "plot" or continuous plot line , but instead a series of random short and different stories written on various chapters, in other words, it's an episodic manga. You can still enjoy yourself without worrying about not understanding the plot when you read a random chapter. While some people dislike this kind of format, I personally really like this. Each chapter is a new and exciting story, waiting to be ... told. As there's no plot, the story is very atmospheric and will make you experience a full roller-coaster of emotions every single chapter. I probably rant too much on this but the final does pay off and probably leave you in a bittersweet feel.
Art : 10
- The art is arguably one of the best thing about this series . It's very clean , and very gorgeous. It gives off a weird yet wonderful feeling how the characters appear Japanese while having many features that would make them Western , and the style blends neatly between being old-fashioned and modern. It's a feast to the eyes.
Characters : 10
- The series is short, so the characters do not get that much screentime. However, the author did a fine job of giving them character-developments , along with the giving us the essences of each character. You can clearly understand them, their actions, their emotions , their personalities in a very short time. This is a rare case of you just wanting to cheer and root for every characters (At least in my case, but i'm sure the majority of people will agree with me)
Enjoyment: 10
- It's the kind of series that you enjoy yourself with some relaxing slow jazz music, along with your favorite drink and some snacks. It's episodic, it's atmospheric and it's short , so if you are bored/lonely on a free evening, give yourself a treat and read this.

While the manga is fairly new and fresh, the story is progressively getting better with new side-characters with believable motives , relatable personality and overall looking very promising. To be fair, the first few chapters so far wasn't much for advancing the plot, but take it with a grain of salt since I consider these chapters a Prologue for grand up-coming story waiting to be told. While the manga may appear edgy at first glance , the author did a good job portraying how difficult ... and unforgiving the world can be, especially a world with magic and monsters. The gore, the unfortunate things that happened are explained properly with details. Hell , I will even go so far as to say that I would probably be like the MC or even worse if that happened to me, and I think that many people would agree with me. There are some moments of levity , and the show doesn't take itself too seriously that it leaves a disdainful taste in your mouth. I'm pretty excited for the incoming arc and the story is looking very promising.

The art is absolutely gorgeous. I myself believe that art and artstyle are subjective depending on the people perceiving them , so you may think that I'm being biased, and I do agree. But holy hell is this freaking beautiful. Check them out for yourself and see how you like it.

As I mentioned before in the Story section of this review, this aspect of the manga is very well-done . The MC is a total badass in of himself , but the things that make him interesting is that fact that he doesn't kill for glory or money or anything artificial like that. I don't want to go too deep into the spoiler territories but the way he views himself , his actions and the world around him is definitely very refreshing and unique. I'm sure the author put a lot of thoughts into the MC ( I also find him to be somewhat relatable in this aspect but this is irrelevant) .

What can I say ? The gorgeous artstyle combine with intense, detailed and highly gory fights along with beautiful background scenery makes this manga a blast to read. It is so enjoyable that I found myself rereading the few chapters available for numerous times now , and I have not gotten bored of it (and probably won't). The story is coming along very nicely , and is getting hyped up so badly that you just can't wait for the new chapters. This is such a feel-good show (Different from the healing show) that you just want to enjoy yourself and your life while being on this one ride of massive fun.

I've had fun a lot with this manga and I certainly can say for sure that this is gonna be big in the fantasy sub-genre. It's not too edgy that you cringe to sleep, but it is dark enough to keep you interested and invested. The world-building is amazing too, though we don't know much about it, there are hints here and there and it's really fun to try and think about all of the subtle things happening in the background. The characters are fun to watch, somewhat relatable , have reasonable motives and their personalities tend to defer from others, side-characters are also given some backstories and such. The art style is highly-stylized, detailed and the fight scenes are awesome. This is some top-tier manga here.

- Mediocre at best. The "dramas" feels extremely forced, and used mainly to advance the plot, which is super cliche and stupid at this point so far. It is your typical average teenage boy getting transferred into another fantasy world. Well while it is true that this isn't a harem series in which the character is overly OP and just an overall trash harem/waifubait of a mess, the premise of this manga isn't unique or refreshing, and have been done better before (Tate no Yuusha Nariagari). While I do have a soft spot for series that take a darker approach on these ... kind of premises, this manga is a complete mess of a writing. It just showed how immature and incompetent the writer is. I would have given it a 3 or 4, but since it is fairly new, I will give it another chance
Characters: 2
- Oh god where do I even begin... The MC is a typical teenage boy who wishes to have a peaceful life and that's his only damn defining trait( Yeah because we totally never got this type of character before). I'm not against his personality or something but it's extremely dreadful to the point of being dreadful. What's worse is that he is extremely naive, and is an absolute imbecile. I found myself getting angry and frustrated at him instead of the villains. He is the type of guy that would make you want to yell "Use your f***king head for god's sake".
- The Villains have no defining traits except being scummy. Completely and dreadfully shallow and one-dimensional. They have no purposes or motivations, and are there to just move the plot along. I would even call it insulting to my intelligence.
- As for the so-called "God", maybe it's just me but his character designs really piss me off for some reason. Oh , did I mention that the character designs are completely cliche and stereotypical too ? The character designs are completely cliche and stereotypical. Enough of that. God literally just appears out of no-where , uncalled for , and just start dumping expositions after teleporting(?) the characters to somewhere(?). They never really explain what is going on or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention because I was so bored muscling through this garbage. The part where that guy started charging in at God and got killed was just so freaking comically horrible that it was ironically funny. Not that I'm laughing at the funniness of that scene, I'm just laughing at how much of an incompetent hack the writer is. After that guy was slaughtered, everyone was kind of freaked out , in a very awkward and bizarre way. Just made the whole scene seemed like a comic relief instead of a serious moment that should have define and establish the tone of the series.

- Some may call it "stylizing" or "unique" but to me, the art is just complete trash. No details whatsoever, the character designs are cliche and stereotypical, and many more. I could talk more but it's just trash.

- A complete mess that I dreadfully pulled myself through, even though I only read 2 chapters, the manga is so bad that I just couldnt bear it. I was just thinking and hoping that the series would get progressively better, and It was the only motivation that kept me going through this pile of garbage. The pacing is a clusterfuck too.
Overall :
- So far, it's trash , and it seems like it will stay that way. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this sack of trash whatsoever. Unless you want your intelligence to be insulted through generic and shallow characters, stupid and cliche plots, and abysmal artstyle.
