Well I finally got around to watching Shakugan no Shana, and I must say I\'m thoroughly glad I did. The story was somewhat original - neither a standard anime storyline nor a groundbreaking unprecedented plot. The animation style is not the most flashy or intricate, but the action sequences are mostly well animated. I\'ve seen much worse, but I\'ve also seen much better. The music is good, but typical. Nothing new there. The characterization is interesting, but verges on outrageous at times. There are times when the things the characters do/say are very hard to take seriously. ...

What can I say? People are calling this the greatest anime of all time. If you want to call yourself an anime fan, you should know it. The greatest thing about this series is that everybody has their own unique interpretation of it. The reason why I gave the animation a 9 is that, during the time the show was being made - especially near the end - Gainax wasn't really confident in the show's potential for success (at the time it was being aired on TV Tokyo, which had 5 affiliates, and only became successful after word of mouth had ...

Mai HiME takes a minute to get off the ground, but after a while, you'll find yourself being sucked into its storyline. It's uninhibited, filled with good comedy, compelling drama, and symbolism - some with surprising adherence. The premise of the story is very interesting and original. The only negative point I give here is that there were a few moments I found difficult to take seriously. I actually laughed once - at a part that was by no means supposed to be funny.
