The anime adaptation of "Litchi DE Hikari Club" is, regrettably, a pale and distorted representation of its manga namesake. Any hope of seeing even the slightest complexity and dark atmosphere the original manga tried to deliver is swiftly dashed. The decision to present the narrative in three-minute episodes, aimed at humor, seems a glaring misjudgment. Instead of delving into the intricate layers of the source material, we are subjected to superficial attempts at humor that disrespect rather than pay homage to the original work.
The animation, in turn, leaves much to be desired. What should have been an opportunity to highlight and enrich the manga's unique
...
aesthetics manifests as something awkward and devoid of finesse. There's a tangible sense that corners were cut, resulting in a product that feels not only rushed but also disinterested in its own narrative. Especially when the aesthetics of the original manga already represent the best of the manga.
The outcome is a series that, instead of complementing and expanding the appreciation of the original work, runs the risk of alienating its fans and confusing new viewers with its disjointed approach.
In summary, "Litchi DE Hikari Club" as an anime is a missed opportunity, failing to capture the essence, tone, and depth of its manga counterpart.

"Litchi☆Hikari Club" is a work by the renowned manga artist Usumaru Furuya, promising an immersion into a dark and complex theme. My journey through its pages was marked by mixed feelings and profound reflections. Undoubtedly, Furuya's artistic style stands out as a pinnacle of the manga. His meticulous aesthetic manages to capture the narrative's essence, serving as one of its foundational pillars. Furuya's drawing delivers an atmosphere of sociopolitical horror, effectively alluding to Nazism. However, this is executed satirically and responsibly, exaggerating and ridiculing the group, providing a biting critique to the plot.
The manga is notable for its "nazi chic," a controversial element that, in
...
many contexts, can be misinterpreted. Yet, Furuya deploys it in a satirical and theatrical manner, acting as a subversive reflection on the rise of fascism in Japan. Through a group of youths led by a charismatic but manipulative leader, we witness a sharp commentary on the mentality of "just following orders" without questioning. Despite its promising start, the character development falls short of expectations. It would have been enriching to know more about the group, their origins, familial backgrounds, school environments, and the socioeconomic dynamics of the city they inhabit. Such elements could have added more depth and understanding to the characters' motivations and actions.
The story kicks off with an intriguing premise: a fascistic group of youths that, due to its inherent dysfunction, is on a path to self-destruction. This core plot is captivating and well-constructed. However, the introduction of a secondary narrative in the latter part of the story disrupts its balance, becoming a detraction that compromises the initially established pace and focus. "Litchi☆Hikari Club" is a work that shines in its aesthetic and sociopolitical critique, but, at times, strays from its potential. The manga could have benefited from a deeper exploration of its characters and a more centered narrative. Still, it offers moments of reflection and stands as a valuable addition for those seeking a read that transcends the conventional.

Shigahime offers a deeply engaging storyline that is further accentuated by its monumental art. Hirohisa Sato showcases characters with substantial depth, and as the narrative unfolds, their evolution becomes evident, making readers invest emotionally in their journeys.
The art style in Shigahime is worth highlighting. Sato employs a unique blend of traditional and modern techniques, making each frame both a story in itself and a piece of art to be admired. This distinct style particularly accentuates the manga's darker and more intense moments, pulling the reader deeper into its world.
Thematically, Shigahime delves into topics rarely addressed in mainstream manga, intertwining sensuality and sexuality in a manner
...
that is both respectful and plot-centric. Hirohisa Sato's nuanced approach to these themes, avoiding gratuitous depictions and moral preaching, is commendable.
However, the pacing could be a point of contention for some. While the initial chapters may seem a tad slow with weaker dialogues, it's a deliberate buildup leading to an arc that is riveting and emotionally charged.
I believe that mature readers would appreciate Shigahime the most, given its thematic depth and nuanced storytelling. But with its compelling characters and art, it can resonate with a wider audience.
In the vast sea of manga, Shigahime shines as a hidden gem, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
