This was a great anime to watch, and one that I never thought I would watch. The title screams "sad ending", so if you are planning on watching it be sure to keep a box or two of Kleenx close by. I really enjoyed this anime because it stuck to one of the types of anime that I typically like to watch- everyday life- while going in a direction that normally wouldn't interest me. Your Lie in April brought classical music to life and helped me to understand how much feeling and expression goes into playing the piano or violin. This anime actually made me
...
WANT to be a musician, to want to play the piano or some other instrument so that I could pour my heart and soul into every note that I learned to play. Whether you just have a love of music, are a musician, know a musician, or are parent to one you should watch this anime and see how music can affect a person. Yeah, you'll cry but you'll laugh too. This is an anime to curl up on the couch with your significant other, your kid, your friends, or even just by yourself with a cup of hot chocolate. Your Lie in April will warm your heart and put a tingle to play an instrument in your fingers. I loved it, please watch it!

I read a manga adaption of this series (Library Wars: Love & War) and from the very first page I loved it, but I didn't know how much it would come to mean to me. The idea is unique to me and the characters are realistic in a way that can jump out at you if you can relate to them.
While certain things are easy to predict in this series, it's done in a way that still leaves you curious about things and this causes one to continue on with the series despite situational irony. While the main focus is events that occur in

the library and protecting books, the drama and dark aspects of these concepts are lightened by giving you breaks in the story so that you can see the relationships the characters have with each other outside of work and how the things actually affect them- as emotion cannot rule when they are right in the middle.
I found while looking through the books, that the ideas presented in this story are actually highly relevant to today's society- governments and certain citizens are fighting to censor certain things from the general public because they feel that these things are dangerous to society. There are people who fight back against this censorship with the argument that we choose our own actions. Censorship becomes a bigger issue each year and this story proves that when taken too far, the consequences can become dire, requiring drastic measures to try to fix the damage that has been done.
The relevance to today is amazing, especially when coupled with how the anime was created. The art is great- it doesn't make the characters look too cartoonish and it also doesn't make them look too adult or real. The art helps lighten up the story with how amazing the expressions have been drawn- you can almost see EXACTLY what the characters are thinking. The anime also stayed true to the story presented by Hiro Arikawa- sensei; it was not embellished or drastically changed from what it is. If you are a person who prefers accuracy to the manga or original form, Library Wars is a GREAT example of that.
Despite knowing what was going to happen, when I watched this I was riveted and intrigued. The way the characters interact is engaging and amusing and if you haven't read the story, you will be surprised because somethings you just CAN'T expect!
No matter what genre you enjoy, if you're looking for a great story with engaging, amusing characters, and plot twists that will make you go back to watch again, I DEFINITELY recommend this one!

So, I watched Wolf's Rain before I read it, and honestly, for the first time in like, EVER, I preferred the anime to the manga- the manga is usually easier to follow and it, like a novel, usually has more details than the movie version (or anime version in this case), but here... no. Honestly, I found the anime had a lot more detail and a better ending, not to mention, in the manga I found myself wondering how Hubb and Quent met and how they found Cher, and it was just a little tricky for me to understand. In the anime you see a

lot more and I preferred that. Both have a great story, great art, and amazing characters that you HAVE to fall in love with, but honestly, overall, I'd recommend the anime over the manga.

I read the manga and it was one of my favorites, yeah, factor in the crummy translating and scanlations- they took pictures of the BOOKS and posted them, as though you could actually read something so blurry and small!- and the fact that towards the end the story veered off to have something to do with a guy named Joker and people named after card suits, it got a little confusing and was no longer true to the synopsis, which is one thing a lot of people hate.
I had no doubt that the anime wouldn't have everything the manga did- it's too short, but
...
I did NOT like the anime. Yes, it stayed true to what the manga started as, which I DID appreciate, but Nina was such a fricking twat I wanted to strangle her most of the time, and they cut out all of the romance parts! They barely developed anything close to romance between Nina, Zero, and Ichi. Yeah there was tension, but NO romance! And I swear that they changed the ending. I don't remember the pearl going all DOOM and doing what it did.
All in all, I didn't really like this anime adaption. If you're looking to watch something that sticks to one plot and one plot only, so that it doesn't solve one problem and move onto another, I suggest you watch this one. But I was severely disappointed that they cut out so much- including one element that was fairly big in the manga. When sticking to the original plot, this one gets top marks, but capturing the essence of the manga? Sorry, very low points there.
